I need a character hook

I want to play either an Echo Knight or Battle Smith but I am really struggling with a concept. I am leaning Half Orc or Human for the former, and Human or High Elf for the latter. But in either case i am really struggling for a character concept/story.

I just love writing - but I'd say it's always good to start your own separate thread (like this) and have others weigh in with ideas. :)
