My question is simple. I have seen a few people discuss Thaumatology as subclass for Wizard. However I have not been able to find the source book. Does anyone know the answer?

Do you mean Theurgist, from the Unearthed Arcana: Wizards Revisited?

The fact that you've called it Thaumatology rather than Thaumaturgist only bothers me a little bit.

It's definitely a homebrew as their is no such subclass in any official book, which homebrew is hard to say but a quick google search finds a reddit post (https://www.reddit.com/r/3d6/comments/bxlu6b/build_for_level_10_wizard_school_of_thaumatology/) with the subclass and all its features.

It's also possible that the discussion is from a different edition, as 3.X has it as a prestige class.

Or possibly a different game: http://www.sjgames.com/gurps/books/thaumatology/

:)

Couldn't resist, since that's what the thread title immediately reminded me of.

Anyway, here's the link to Theurgist: https://media.wizards.com/2017/dnd/downloads/MJ320UAWizardVF2017.pdf Warning: it's playtest material from like 3 years ago, so the fact that they never published it may be taken as an indication that it did not playtest well.
