There is a magic item in the 3.5 DMG II called Daazzix's vest. It increases your spell resistance by 5. If you had a mantle of spell resistance 21 it boosts it to 26 is the example provided. Would this stack with exalted spell resistance feat from book of exalted deeds? It increases your spell resistance by 4 for evil spells and the spell-like abilities of evil outsiders. Unfortunately neither lists a type so the normal bonuses of the same type don't stack rule doesn't work very efficiently.

As far as I'm aware, if a bonus doesn't have a type, it's considered "untyped" and untyped sources stack.

as far as I see it, both the Vest and Exalted Spell Resistance are untyped bonuses and thus always stacks.

edit: to slow...^^

Daazzix’s Vest says right in the description that it only functions if you already have SR, and increases your existing SR by 5. That works with any SR from any source.

Items and effects that grant SR will often grant you a set amount, rather than a bonus to your existing amount. So a Mantle of Spell Resistance grants you SR 21, but does not increase any existing SR by that amount as it's not a bonus, it's a set value. Two different effects that grant a set value of SR will give overlapping bonuses, not stacking bonuses, unless they're specifically expressed as a bonus to your existing value. The feat Awaken Spell Resistance in the Draconomicon is an example of one that does both, but it has to specifically say it does both.
