Hello!
I need some help. My Yuan-ti NPCs want a bit of kung fu, but special, snake kung fu.
I researched Homebrew Martial Discipline Compendium, but all the disciplines with words "snake" or "serpent" in the name aren't what I need. To read ALL the disciplines takes a long time.

Could you please give me some idea, or maybe already made disciplines, or something else that you think will help me.

Thank you.

Could you give some more information about what you're looking for in terms of fighting style for your NPCs (ex. assassination, daggers, etc.)? One thing to keep in mind is that it's very easy to combine and rename individual maneuvers from multiple disciplines, if something only has part of what you're looking for.

Some things I dug up:
Darting Viper (https://forums.giantitp.com/showthread.php?402488-Darting-Viper-(Martial-Discipline)): Focuses on waiting for your opponent to make a mistake, plus crippling blows.
Steel Serpent (https://forums.giantitp.com/showthread.php?161258-3-5-Steel-Serpent-the-discipline-of-the-assassin-ToB-LoB-Discipline): Poisons, plus delayed damage. Plenty of ability damage.
Dancing Leaf (https://forums.giantitp.com/showthread.php?85614-I-m-A-Leaf-On-The-Wind-Discipline):Generally, a lot of counters here.
Oncoming Storm (https://forums.giantitp.com/showthread.php?54816-Beware-the-Oncoming-Storm-Discipline): Lots of delayed damage, and Sleight of Hand-triggered effects.

Spell equivalencies, the king of custom maneuvers. (https://forums.giantitp.com/showthread.php?187632-Arcane-Swordsage-Making-it-actually-work)

I looked at the disciplines that you recomended. They look good, especialy Darting Viper, but it isn't exactly what I want.
What I need is a set of maneuvers that only Yuan-ti can perform. I mean physiologically. Strike with snake tail, bite with snakehead hand, etc.

I understand that likely nobody has done anything like this. And I ask for some ideas and guidelines about how to create that discipline myself. Because I haven't done it before.

Well, if you're willing to port over 3rd party PoW from Pathfinder, there are Steel Serpent (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/alternative-rule-systems/path-of-war/disciplines-and-maneuvers/steel-serpent-maneuvers/) and (less so) Thrashing Dragon (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/alternative-rule-systems/path-of-war/disciplines-and-maneuvers/thrashing-dragon-maneuvers/).

About Serpentine Superiority.
It is first discipline I made and I’d like some advice.
1) I don't know what skill to appoint the key skill.
2) I’m not so sure about balancing SS at all and certain maneuvers.
3) Maybe I make any obviously mistakes or overlooked something.

I’ll be happy with any feedback.

Well, if you're willing to port over 3rd party PoW from Pathfinder, there are Steel Serpent and (less so) Thrashing Dragon.
Thanks! I shall explore.

Serpentine Superiority (Rush)
Level: 2
Prerequisite: x
Initiation Action: 1 move action
Range: Personal
Target: You

As part of this maneuver, move up to your speed. You don't provoke attacks of opportunity, but you can only move diagonally.

Starting at IL 9th, you can move through other creatures' spaces as part of this movement.

Special: You can initiate this maneuver as a full-round action to move up to twice your speed this way.

Edit: I'd just give this as an everpresent SQ to your yuanti and other snake creatures, since it's nothing but a situationally faster Tumble.

As part of this maneuver, move up to your speed. You don't provoke attacks of opportunity, but you can only move diagonally.

It's interesting, but... "Only move diagonally"? Where is diagonal in real life?
I can't imagine this and don't understand reasons for this restriction.

It's to create a feeling of slithering in the game.

I would also add a rush that involves moving diagonally left-right-left-right and making attacks (or something) as you go. Example:

Deadly Slither
Serpentine Superiority (Rush)
Level: 4
Prerequisite: x
Initiation Action: 1 full-round action

As part of this maneuver, move up to your speed without provoking attacks of opportunity. You can only move diagonally, and you can't move more than one space in a straight line. Make a single melee attack against each individual creature you pass adjacent to as part of this movement.

At IL 15th, you no longer incur an increased movement cost for moving diagonally as part of this maneuver.

Could you please give me some idea, or maybe already made disciplines, or something else that you think will help me.

Old but has good reviews.

I'll ask againe: where are diagonals in real life?
What is diference between diagonals and not-diagonals?

What'd happen if I turn map a 45 degree angle? What will change?
You say "it's to create a feeling of slithering in the game", I say "it will kill sod."

And...

Deadly Slither
Serpentine Superiority (Rush)

This is strike not rush.

By the way, rush maneuver type is from where?

I think Elves is forgetting that not everyone plays on square grids, and 3.5 only occasionally respects that assumption.

Squares are ok, but in "in-game perspective" are no diagonals. Real floor has no grid.

Hex map agrees with you.

For the first maneuver, "you can't move more than one space in a straight line" would work fine on a hex grid.

D&D 3.5 assumes five foot spaces as the unit of measurement and movement. Diagonal is objective on a square grid. On a hex grid you can do "no more than one space in a straight line" for the first maneuver, like in the second maneuver. That's also objective.

All I can say is, "I can't even figure out how to charge in a straight line." (https://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0176.html)

Hm... You call a "diagonal" what actually is a "zigzag", don't you?

Ah, those were good strips.

Have you had a chance to look at this homebrew? Jade Viper (https://minmaxforum.com/index.php?topic=7219.msg110654#msg110654)

Yes, just readed. Very good and thematically match! Not exactly what I wanted, but I take it as a nice bonus.

Well, if you're willing to port over 3rd party PoW from Pathfinder, there are Steel Serpent (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/alternative-rule-systems/path-of-war/disciplines-and-maneuvers/steel-serpent-maneuvers/).
This is good too.
