Large Size Templates

Hello Playgrounders,

Quick question that I've never really had an answer to, that being, when you apply a template that changes your size to large, do you apply the ability score improvements from the "Changes to Statistics by Size" table in the Monster Manual, on top of the ability score adjustments that are already given by the template itself?

Say the template itself changes you from medium to large, and gives you a +4 to Str, and a +2 to Dex; does that stack with the +8 to Str and -2 to Dex from the table?

It will usually vary by template: most will specify if you apply the ability score changes for size increase or not.

If the template itself doesn't state the stat changes include size increases, you add the size increases on top of it. Do note you only get size increase bonuses if the template permanently sets your size to a larger one, no ifs or buts. If there's any time you're not larger(say, if the template actually grants a second form, like Werewolf, or a Sp/Su effect that reproduces Enlarge Person, even if continuous), you don't get the racial size increase bonuses.
