Try Dungeons & Dragons 1&2...
I thought he said bad-ass, not lame as hell.

Eragon wasn't that bad, but it had more epic dragon battles.

Not much sorcery, but plenty of swords in Braveheart and Gladiator.

Get really really REALLY drunk and watch this series in the following order:

LOTR movie
Harry Potter movie
LOTR movie
Harry Potter movie
Star Wars movie.

Eventually they will all blend together and form one long kick-ass epic movie. It'll have wizards, warriors, dwarves and a ****ing DEATH STAR.

Damn, beaten to the punch with 300.

But someone mentioned Eragon...Why? That movie was so horrible :smallmad:

CORRECTION: that movie sucked ONLY if you read the book. :smallamused:

but i didnt read it, or see the movie, so...yeah.

I'd say Eragon was offensively bad if you had read the book and only really, really sucky if you hadn't. :smalltongue:

D&D II was midly entertaining simply becuase I saw it for free one lazy afternoon on the Sci-Fi channel and got a chuckle out of how closely it tried to adhere to the rules.

Here are some more movies I would add to the list:
Excalibur (1981)
Dragonslayer (1981)
The Beastmaster (1982)
Ladyhawke (1985)

Wait.. by "bad ass" did you mean kick ass sword & sorcery violence or just a good s & s flick? Excalibur remains on the list regardless. That one is a classic in my book.

Personally, I liked the Eragon movie better than the book.

Admittedly, that's not saying much.

D&D 2 was quite good, the first one was pathetic.

Highlander (the first part) was badass when I was a kid. Might have been because of that though.

Neverending story lacks in the sword department, but it's a quite good movie.

I'd also suggest Labyrinth, The princess Bride and Hook, but I'm affraid they might be more "cute movies" than bad ass.

i agree completely i eventualy forced myself to watch it because i was being told you shouldnt judge a movie by its advert, got 10 mins into it and threw the disk out the window after defacing it with a screwdriver:smallfurious:

The Princess Bride? Cute? Inconceivable! :smalltongue:

There's enough buckling and swashing to make it a great fantasy flick, and besides, the little boy's grumbling about "the kissing parts" makes it all the better.

Of course, Robin Hood: Men in Tights is an awesome fantasy flick with lots of action and humor.

Seconded. This has to be the baddest movie I've seen in awhile.

13th Warrior was cool.

D&D2 was good, is it worth watching then?! The first one was terrible.

You clearly misread. He said he wanted a bad ass-movie. (http://xkcd.com/37/) D&D fits this definition perfectly.

Have you seen the preview for the new Dragons of Autumn Twilight coming soon to a DVD player near you? Why, if that isn't badass then I'm not a Koala!

13th Warrior was cool.

Yeah, but that was another where the book (Eaters of the Dead) was better.

OH! Wizards (an old cartoon) is so badass it hurts to sit down! The two Heavy Metal movies are pretty awesome too...

V for Vendetta is great but there's no magic insteed you ONLY get awsome dagger usage, a wonderful main charater who you never find out who they actually are under the mask (but he's still my fictional soul mate:smalltongue: lol) explosions, classical music, literary refrances, a tear jerking mini story about a woman who loved, and anarchy.:smallwink:

Yes, it's very much worth watching. The only character is shares with the first movie is also the only worthwhile character in the first movie (Damodar).
And he doesn't have blue lips this time, as well!

Damn you for beating me to the reference!

Yeah, good stuff has been mentioned, some of which I need to go out and see. I've heard the Eragon movie is so terribly bad that I should definitely not watch it. So I didn't.

Willow (http://imdb.com/title/tt0096446/) !
It's up there with the very best Sword and Sorcery movies ever.

Nothing beats Mad Martigan's fight scene with Sorsha!

I don't know much about sword/magic movies.

But I do know that Shoot 'em Up (although completely lacking in either swords OR magic) is just plain awesomeness. Nothing else. Not even a plot. The plot got ditched in favor of more awesomeness.

I mean, Clive Owen goes around killing nameless henchmen with guns and carrots. If that doesn't fit the title of this thread, then I don't know what does.

continuing the topic of clive owen, though no sorcery King Arthur was a good movie.

And on a personal note i thought both D&D movies were very good.

No, it's absolutely stupid. There was nothing badass about that movie.

Gotta throw Smokin' Aces into the mix of badass movies (even tho no magic or anything like that). It has guns, fights, and most importantly Ben Afleck abuse :smalltongue:

300 and Army of Darkness have both been truly named as distilled badassness.

I would throw in Sin City. Because of Marv. Seriously. If you looked up badass in a dictionary (cliche, I know), he would be listed somewhere.

And it's a videogame, but if God of War were a movie... ah, but those are more badass characters, less badass movies.

Tarantino gets some credit here. Kill Bill(s), and Pulp Fiction. Heck, Jules' wallet even says "bad mother****er" on it. I use these movies when demonstrating the concept of badassness to the uninitiated.

Kull the Conqueror(1997)
Memorable lines:
"The fate of the kingdom shall be sealed with a kiss"
"The woman you slept with last night was not twenty-seven. She is Akivasha the Red Witch of Ancient Acheron reborn. She's over three thousand years old!"
"Forgive me, Valka" *hacks Valka's face in twain*
*sunders high priest's staff* "If you don't like my rule, come take my throne"
"With this axe, I rule"
