View Full Version : Pathfinder Elocator comes online later than I thought (Psion Nomad)

Mostly just an observation I feel like sharing, because it caught me up as I was theorycrafting a Nomad->Elocator build. The Pathfinder version of Elocator waives the Spring Attack requirement if you have the Nomad's Step ability, but one requirement I kept missing as I was plotting out getting into Elocator at level 6 was that the PrC also has a +3 BAB prerequisite. Which a pure Psion doesn't get until level 6, meaning you can't enter Elocator until level 7. Given that they waived a feat requirement, I wonder if that was just to get it down to level 7 rather than 8. Especially since a human could meet the reqs even with Spring Attack still there.

Just a little odd. You can get in there with a multiclass of Nomad and 3 levels of PsyWarrior or one level of Soulknife or Aegis (or fighter, for that matter). Though the multiclass seems a bit sub-optimal, especially with the lack of any Practiced Manifester feat or equivalent for psions in PF. There's Scholarly Discipline, but that only works if you are a wizard/psion multiclass, and mixing wizard into this build just for the opportunity to get +2 manifester levels back is a terrible idea.

But since the +3 BAB requirement caught me by surprise, I thought I'd share.

That's because it's a trait in PF - Psionic Knack (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/alternative-rule-systems/psionics-unleashed/psionic-alternate-rules/psionic-traits/psionic-knack/) (based on its 1st-party equivalent, Magical Knack (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/traits/magic-traits/magical-knack/).) Restores fewer caster levels than PM/PS, but a trait is considerably cheaper than a feat so it works.
