So my thread about the Maiming weapon property got me thinking: what ways are there in 3.5 to get a crit multiplier of x5 or higher?

Is this already covered in a crit-fishing handbook somewhere?

As usual, for my purposes, no PF or 3rd party, and ideally no Dragon/Dungeon content...

Cheers - T

Deepwood Sniper from Masters of the Wild could get up to x5, and I don't think it was nerfed in 3.5, so it's technically still good.

I think there was a magic item for claws in the Draconomicon that upped their critical multiplier by quite a lot, though it didn't stack with anything IIRC.

As was my question leaning towards in the maim thread.

I assume that would have to be the property of the arrows and not the bow, right? Or am I misremembering? Brain tells me KR has to be put on sharp things.

Edit: answered my own question with the power of reading links.

Psychic Weapon Master (http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20040827d) was updated for 3.5 and retained its increased multiplier feature. It's only 1 to 5 times a day depending on level, but if you're using a x4 weapon you'll be lucky to crit more than 5 times a day.

Weapon Master wasn't updated for 3.5, but as PWM has a almost identical class features, presumably it's still valid.

I once played a scythe-wielding Weapon Master who critted at x5, 18-20 (it was 3.0) and later at 16-20. Confirmed two crits in his entire 7-level career then died horribly. Unluckiest character I ever played.

There is the It-Seems-Endlessly-WIP Critfishing Handbook (https://forums.giantitp.com/showthread.php?569192-D-amp-D-3-5e-For-Massive-Damage!-A-Critical-Hit-Handbook) over here, which might help out. PhantasyPen and a few other guys did a pretty thorough look through 3.5, Dragon and Dungeon to find stuff for it. I might have to do my own and finish it off one of these days :)

Edit: answered my own question with the power of reading links. The bow itself is technically still a piercing weapon, so it should be a valid thing to make out of resin. If your DM gets mad at that, then resin arrows work, though that means maintaining a supply chain with some Kaorti as opposed to one side quest where you get one to make you something or murk a colony and take their stuff.

If you had a manyfang dagger (Serpent Kingdoms) made out of kaorti resin, it would deal x4 damage on a regular hit and x7 on a crit. Of course, you're subject to flying DMGs when you stack cheese on cheese...
