Anyone ever watch Samurai Jack? I'm trying to figure out how to stat him out in D&D and I'm not quite sure how. I'm pretty sure he's not using the samurai class and I'm doubtful about monk also:smallwink: . He wears no armor and fights with a magic katana that is the bane of all evil, especially Aku: the Shape Shifting Master of Darkness (incidentally aku is the Japanese word for evil). Jack can also fight with pretty much any other weapon with great proficiency and is a trained Shaolin Monk so his hand to hand is quite formidable as well.

Initially, I might just make him a Psychic Warrior since he does some pretty superhuman stuff but its more of an effort of pure will than magic. Anyone have a better build?

Pure Swordsage. I see Jack being a Diamond Mind specialist, maybe a little Tiger Claw, considering all the leaping attacks he makes. Throw in some Setting Sun for when he's lost his weapon--which seemed to happen a lot--and maybe a little Stone Dragon for robot-hacking goodness.

Maybe Unarmed Strike Swordsage? I don't really watch television so I can't help you beyond that.

Swordsage, definitely. The sword is a +5 holy outsider (evil) and shapeganger bane. Total = +9 weapon. Pretty good.

If he has diamond mind and tigerclaw, then he would be warblade not swordsage, since swordsage cannot access diamond mind.

Feat wise, he has cleave and great cleave, improved unarmed strike and snapkick, uses a bastard sword two handed and uses twf to deliver kicks as ff hand weapons.

Swordsage does get Diamond Mind. Swordsage doesn't get Iron Heart or White Raven.

His weapon is definitely pretty special. It isn't just evil/shapechanger bane. It can't hurt him, something about being unable to harm creatures with pure souls or something. Not that that is easily represented in DnD enchantments.

Swordsage gets everything except Iron Heart, White Raven and Devoted Spirit.

Diamond Mind rocks

Why assume +5? How can you tell?

Might have the Mighty Cleaving enhancement.

He does kill an awful lot of robots in under 6 seconds after all.

It certainly could be anywhere from +1 to +5; the show clearly states that it's magic, though not how magic. If Aku has DR / Magic, that'd be enough to hurt him, like the lore says. Considering that the Samurai Jack setting is more technology-based, magic could indeed considered a rarity, what with Jack's weapon being the only of its kind.

On the other side, Jack's sword was forged specifically to combat evil, so it's assumable that it has some bonus against bad guys. Whether it's a shapeshifter-bane katana or a Easternized Holy Avenger is up to fluff. When you're translating fiction into D&D terms, there's always a bit of subjectivity, anyway.

And add conditional merciful for when attacking pure souls. If attacking evil, it would still retain the +1d6 but do lethal damage.
