Hi,

Do you think it is legal to get a feature that add a small bonus to other teammates features, ex: second wind Hit Points buffed by proficiency bonus, after a short training ?

One needs to retrain when prof. bonus is raised... is it correct ? Of course, why not training thousands of people for money ? Out of game scope ? Well, wait a minute, millions of people can teach you languages and tools proficiency: they are called teachers...

Obviously, everything is legal if the DM approves.

However, there are two or three issues with this kind of feature to keep in mind.
-First, this is a feature that provides lasting benefits even after the source goes away, without cost. If someone makes a PC with this feature, and the PC only lasts one session, the effect they will have on the game will last long after they leave, making the remaining party members stronger than usual.
-Second, a character of level X is usually assumed to be competent for their level- if they can get taught by someone to upgrade their features, it seems as though they were deficient- why did they not already know these things as part of their education? Are they "really" a level X character?
-Second and a half, you'll have players who want to write into their backstory that they were trained in such-and-such a technique.

A softer version of this would be to give people access to "sidegrades" and alternative options for their features, instead of a straight-up upgrade. Perhaps a particular version of Second Wind heals half as much, but grants the effects of the Dodge action as an additional benefit.

Well, then, why players don't say they got tools and languages training before ?

Excellent idea. But the trainer needs to buff, in my example, non fighters as well (if they have no second wind feature).

2 solutions:

1) Trainer must be there. How to remotely activate Second Wind ?
2) Magic is involved.

Because there's no mechanism by which players can reliably gain and permanently acquire tool and language proficiencies. If those existed, people would want to write them into backstory.

Thanks you for your feedback!

Anyone have idead how to remotely activate Second Wind, Surge or any related feature with a command, without involving a magic rod trick (for a commander-warlord etc like concept) ?

Rallying Cry: As an action, the SUBCLASSNAME can choose an ally within 60 ft, and issue a rallying cry. The ally immediately gains X temporary hit points. If they have the Second Wind feature and have a use remaining, then they may instead use it as a a reaction in response to this feature, and additionally gain Y benefit. A creature can only be the target of this ability once per short rest.

Fine!

An I is not charisma related!
