8th level 3.0 spell "Symbol" vs 3.5 spell "Symbol of death", "symbol of insanity"?

The RUNE domain in the FRCS lists your 8th level domain spell as "symbol" and that's it. When converting to 3.5 that same domain, 8th level it has two symbol spells; "symbol of death" and "symbol of insanity". Do I get to pick either of the symbols each day, or just once and then that's the only 8th level domain spell I get from that domain?

The Spell Compendium updates the 3.0e domains, including Rune.

At 8th level you'd get Symbol of Death.

I think there are other examples of domains which give a choice of two spells at a particular spell level, and IIRC you can choose either one on a day-to-day basis.
