My d&d group is getting withdrawal symptoms, so a few of us are getting together for a quick session.

Long story short, I am now running a low-magic one shot set in a space prison. My two players will be tasked with putting an end to the prison break. The inmates have made plans for weeks and it will be in wild effect before they even get there, so I can assume they inmates are armed and have a huge home field advantage.

My players seem to be a RKV and a LRRH. They don't have access to any primary casting classes, but they both will be minmaxing for sure. Meanwhile, this is just a oneshot, so if they die, they die. We will be playing at level 8.

We all have a free Saturday so it can go on as long as we like. I'd love some great encounter ideas, but I'd also love just some reskinning ideas. I don't mind making a few changes, either, if that becomes an issue with raw. We're just three nerds trying to scratch and itch in the end, after all.

Er, without primary casting classes, what do you mean by RKV and LRRH?

My initial guesses would require a casting class.

We have casting classes. Paladin, Bard, Ranger, Spellthief, things like that. The big nine level casters like Cleric, Wizard, Sorcer, and Druid are out for the session.

One is Rogue 1, Psionic Warrior 1, Dragon Shaman 1, Barbarian 1, Warblade 4 doing a Little Red Raiding Hood-esque build.

The other is going Ruby Knight Vindicator. Not sure what they're going in yet.

You may want to try out Starfinder, which comes with a sci-fi skin built-in on a 3.5 derivative chassis. Head over to the free SRD (https://www.aonsrd.com/), grab a free adventure (https://paizo.com/products/btpya1aa?Starfinder-Skitter-Shot) or two (https://paizo.com/products/btq01wyj?Starfinder-Skitter-Crash), and see if you enjoy it.
