I used a green dragon wyrmling as a 'giant mutant wasp' before. The poison breath became a volley of stingers. It went pretty well. :smallcool:

Also, there's a CR 0.5 Giant Wasp in the Monster Manual...

I used a chasme (demon?) as a stand in for an insect queen before. Cr 6,buzz effect, real deadly stinger attack. Be careful with that one though, the hp reduction is really significant. You can remove that part and change necrotic damage to poison for a less deadly/swing fight.

I like this. I changed it to Acid damage, and used the Variant summoning feature to have it summon swarms of Wasps, or have a 30% chance of summoning a second Hornet Queen.
