We can discuss set up here.

Die roller.
Search the forum for roller tutorial for more details.

Basics: remove *

[*roll]1d20+1[/roll], crit? [*roll]1d20+1[/roll], dam [*roll]2d6[/roll]

Which produces:

[roll0], crit? [roll1], dam [roll2]

You can't edit die rolls. It puts up a cheater flag if you do.
If you mess up a roll, just post again with the correct roll.

It it best to roll everything that might be needed to adjudicate an action. Like in the example, roll To Hit, Crit/Fumble, and Damage all at once.
For you, a spell might require a To Hit, Crit/fumble, % for wild magic, damage, and maybe a caster level check.

It is a good idea to type out your common roles in notepad or stickynote and copy them into the forum.

Usually, games use two or even three threads. Most often IC, and OOC, but sometimes also a DICE thread.
Some folk like to treat things as high brow literature.

I tend to run the IC thread as a 'table top' with brief out of character questions and clarifications don't in the IC (Is the wounded orc the one on the right?) and doing game related rolls in the IC thread. I use OOC for more 'discussion of the game' and 'off topic' rather than the actual play area.

For solo games I just use one thread.

-----
IC.

The first thing you realize is that you have a splitting headache.

The second is that you don't know where you are.

The rising panic is from the third: Tied to a chair.

Fourth, Fifth, Six arrive about together: Most clothes missing. That's blood...on those Saws... on that table over there.

After that true panic and the rush of ideas make realizations impractical to count.

The lighting is dim, you are strapped to some kind of chair, the lighting is very dim, your head hurts, and it's not just that you don't remember how you got here or were you were last, you can't even recall your own name.

You have no gear, and you are undressed down to your undergarments (now is a bad time to decide that your character usually goes commando).

So, how do you get out of the chair? Your wrists are bound by belts, and you assume so are your feet.

Oh, so you know some magic.... one clue to identity...

You feel the back of your head and discover that it is somehow both wet and crusty.
And, though painful to probe, there seems to be a hole in the back of your skull. Better get that looked at ... when you get out of here.

You can't see everything in the room. Again, dim lighting.

You do see a white table with an assortment of blood covered saws.

Over there is a barrel.

If there are doors they are further away in the dimness.

Looking back to the chair there is some boom/arm thing with a drill it on it....is that blood? about the height of where your head was when you were in the chair.

There are to glowing motes on the ...counter... behind and just beside the drill thing.

There is a line of more of them over by that barrel looking thing with the lid.

They are about pill shaped and glitter.
They are sitting on top of a small piece of paper.
The marking on the paper are meaningless to you.

I go into the darkness and look for a door

It is dark. (like a Text Rpg dark).

The only source of light is the glowing lozenges.

Do you want to probe around with your hand blindly?

Sure
It wants more characters so I'm just going to use random letters

Groping around you bump into something.
Dex save. (I usually run 3.5, so if I call for REF just roll Dex)
