View Full Version : Pathfinder Spells that force movement

Minor Emerald Spire spoilers around a specific enemy's location and combat strategy: The 7th floor has a dark naga in the bottom of a pit with a snake swarm. Her combat tactics are listed as "Sanaz toys with PCs while casting defensive spells, then uses spells judiciously and tries to knock PCs into the pit," but I don't see any way for a dark naga (https://aonprd.com/MonsterDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Dark%20Naga) to knock a PC into a pit other than making a bull rush and eating an AoO. It's worth noting that she starts inside the pit, and with a +2 climb score and no climb speed it's not trivial for her to get out.

So I'm looking for Pathfinder sorcerer spells that can force horizontal movement (since Air Geyser/Hostile Levitation/Geyser/etc. can't knock someone in a pit) at or below 3rd level, although I'm happy to hear about any that force movement at 4+ (or off the sorcerer list). So far I have the following:

Gust of Wind (https://www.aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Gust%20of%20Wind), 2nd level; only pushes tiny and smaller creatures
Aqueous Orb (https://www.aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Aqueous%20Orb), 3rd level; deals 2d6 recurring nonlethal damage, absorb people into a ball of water and dump them somewhere
Chain of Perdition (https://www.aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Chain%20of%20Perdition) , 3rd level; reposition can't get someone into a pit but drag arguably can
Force Punch (https://www.aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Force%20Punch), 3rd level; deals 1d4 per CL, touch attack that pushes away from the caster
Hydraulic Torrent (https://www.aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Hydraulic%20Torrent), 3rd level; AoE Hydraulic Push
Blast of Wind (https://www.aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Blast%20of%20Wind), 4th level; AoE Gust of Wind that can push small and smaller creatures
Martial Telekinesis (https://www.aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Martial%20Telekinesis), 4th level; the combat maneuver parts of Telekinesis allowing for a bull rush
Hostile Juxtaposition (https://aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Hostile%20Juxtaposition ), 5th level; teleportation effect that also lets you juke an attack
Telekinesis (https://aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Telekinesis), 5th level; bull rush and violent thrust
Sonic Thrust (https://www.aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Sonic%20Thrust), 5th level; the violent thrust part of Telekinesis
Forceful Hand (https://www.aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Forceful%20Hand), 5th level; persistent hand that can bull rush
Ice Crystal Teleport (https://www.aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Ice%20Crystal%20Telepor t), 6th level; for if you are really patient and/or want to send them really far
Grasping Hand (https://www.aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Grasping%20Hand), 7th level; like Forceful Hand but with more grasping
Crushing Hand (https://www.aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Crushing%20Hand), 9th level: like Grasping Hand but with more crushing


Mind control or other mind-affecting spells might work (e.g. Dominate Person to get them to jump in the pit, Suggestion that they climb down to join you in the pit if doing so would be safe, Compassionate Ally if an ally of theirs is in the pit, etc.), but aren't what I'm primarily looking for.

How about Waves of Blood, or Tumultuous Spell metamagic?

How about Waves of Blood, or Tumultuous Spell metamagic?Tumultuous Spell is cool; it'd work nicely with Scorching Ray (which is on their list by default) since it allows multiple attempts to get the tumultuous effect to land. Waves of Blood would have limited applications for this room but is pretty great to keep in mind for future encounters; thanks.

thank you for making this thread. i'm working on a sorcerer build that stealths and casts pits under people's feet lol
