Hey playgrounders! I've been perusing the Stronghold Builder's Guide in hopes of figuring out what my own version of Howl's moving castle would cost, and it's unclear to me what gets discounted by cost reducers (such as making your stronghold mobile or building it near a monster lair). Do cost reducers apply to the entire stronghold (including wondrous architecture and furnishings) or only stronghold components and walls?

The pricing in the SBG is awful.

It's also for noncasters only.

Between spells like wall of stone, fabricate, summon monster XXX, and planar binding, a spellcaster of middling-to-high level can erect a pretty magnificent structure 100% for free.

Well, the nonmagical portions, anyway. It's entirely possible to add magic for little to nothing, but at least some things do require money and XP. Though the money portion can be taken care of via the Landlord feat. Even better if you use something like a psychoactive skin of proteus on a creature to create your stronghold (by turning the wearer into a building) and then funneling your Landlord funds into it as a magic item.

You're better off largely ignoring the pricing entirely if you can cast spells.

If you're not a spellcaster, yeah, it gets stupidly expensive right quick.

I'm asking because I figured out a way to use every price reducer to reduce the price down to 65%, and I've managed to egregiously stack templates onto a warbeast battle titan to make it CR 67 to reduce the price all the way down to 0%. I'm trying to figure out what I actually have to pay for.

Those should apply to the entire stronghold. My view is basically, if someone were to buy my stronghold, it's what they have to pay for.

Instead of a single high CR creature, trap encounters can be used as well.

From https://www.d20srd.org/srd/traps.htm
Multiple Independent Traps
If two or more traps act independently (that is, none depends on the success of another to activate), use their CRs to determine their combined Encounter Level as though they were monsters. The resulting Encounter Level is the CR for the combined traps.

I've already been looking at the post-scarcity guide, but the airship one is new to me. Thanks.

That's odd, because the other guides are linked within the post-scarcity guide itself. Make sure to click on the various links in my guides, they are very useful!
