Hey all!

I had an idea for a skills based character, and the thought struck me to combine the UA Pact of the Talisman with Jack of All Trades from Bard. For those unfamiliar with the Talisman, it allows the wearer to add 1d4 to any skill check they make that does not use their proficiency. This is the same requirements for the static buff of half proficiency with such skills: combining the two starting at 5th level (Bard 2 Warlock 3) means your proficiency is +3, and skills you are not proficient in get at minimum +2, with a 50% chance to exceed your Proficiency bonus (rolling a 3 or 4). Of course this is not as effective when compared to Expertise at Bard 3, but if you decide to go further into Warlock, it would be best to have as few proficiencies as possible to maximize your bonus.

So what are some ways to lose/skip proficiencies by RAW?

(I'm aware the power of the build becomes less effective over time, but even at 20th level the two abilities have a 25% chance to exceed your +6 proficiency)
