As Jeremy Crawford said, elaborate systems that no one will use are useless. So, I’ve rolled a lot together.

A note about this subclass.

The Spell Melds allow Artificers to cast their spells at a higher level by burning additional slot levels.

This is intended to provide a little late tier oomph when they stand beside full casters.
