Hi, I'm going to play in "Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage" campaign as party healer/support/ritual (Detect... and Identify) spammer.
I want to play bard + we needed healer + new college was so bardy... Yeah, it is not so powerfull, as lore bard, but fun.
I want advices about spells, magical secrets and ASI. I want to be a pro-active healer/support/debuffer.
I need to cast Detect Magic and probably Identify often as rituals.

My party:
- bladesinger (hungry for damage dealing, utility nope),
- eldritch knight,
- gloom stalker,
- monk,
- vengeance paladin.

Current plan:

Race: lightfoot halfling
Class: Life Cleric 1 / Eloquence bard 4 (to 19)
Abilities: STR 8, DEX 14, CON 14, INT 8, WIS 14, CHA 16
ASI: War Caster (I haven't martial weapons, but chain shirt and shield, use cantrips for attack, but it is not a purpose)

Spells:
Cantrips: Guidance, Sacred Flame, Thaumaturgy, Prestidigitation, Minor Illusion, Vicious Mockery
1st (Cleric): Bless*, Cure Wounds*, Healing Word, Detect Magic, (1 spot, may be Guiding Bolt for long range)
1st (Bard): Thunderwave, Faery Fire, Identify
2nd (Bard): Lesser Restoration, Blindness/Deafness, (2 from 3 - Hold Person, Invisibility, Suggestion)

I will get 3rd level spells on my 6th level (probably Dispel Magic and Hypnotic Pattern)
I want to get Counterspell + Aura of Vitality as Magical secrets (11 level for me).
Polymorph and Dimension Door as 4th level spells, Greater Restoration and Raise Dead as 5th level.

Eloquence Bard is actually enormously powerful as a control build. Use Unsettling Words as a bonus action, then follow up with a spell like hold person. Keeping an enemy locked down can be one of the most proactive ways to support your party, after all.

EDIT: I would also sub out faerie fire for something else, since it'll be competing with bless to buff your allies and control spells against your enemies. On an Eloquence Bard, you might seriously consider picking up bane to make your saves even more irresistable. You can cast bane, then use Unsettling Words + blindness/deafness without breaking concentration. They'll be making that save with a -1d6 -1d4 penalty (average -6), -1d8 -1d4 (average -7) once you're at Bard 5.
