Working on a One shot idea:
Eustice Bagge discoverer an old nature/ worship site on the edge of his farm.
Being Eustice he immediately converts it into a root cellar, and has claimed some artifact that grants him immortality. The drawback is the person he loves most os turned into a tree so long as they wear it.
That would be Muriel.
Eustice thinks Muriel is in town, and assumes anyone who shows them the Muriel tree is some “flim flam artsy Fartsy gardener and we won’t be paying them for any work, but mocks them for making a free sculpture.
Because of his sacrilege, the local town is suffering all manner of natural threats, until someone figures out a way to make things right.
What are some other ways, Eustice might desecrate a nature shrine? And what are some suitable plagues?
Thoughts so far:
A sacred staff as a backscratcher.
Plague: Vermin
Resolved by?
A sacred burial jar of a guardian animalas a spitoon
Plague: raging wildlife
Resolved by: A reburial?
A sacred scroll as a welcome matt.
Plague: Spikey, unpleasant ground? Quicksand pits?
Resolved by: Rescribing the scroll?
Probably some roving messenger spirit foretelling doom as well to offer narrative guidance.
