PF Elves, originally from Golarion or Castrovel?

I recently found out about this, and a question arose.

Pathfinder Elves (https://pathfinder.fandom.com/wiki/Elf).

It is clear that at one point they went to and returned from Sovyrian on Castrovel (https://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Sovyrian).

The question is:
Were they from Castrovel originally and returned when troubles were coming to Golarion, and then came to Golarion again when it was safer?
Or were they from Golarion originally, went to Castrovel when it was too dangerous in Golarion, and then returned to Golarion when it was safer?

It's noted in Starfinder that Sovyrian is the homeland of the elves; they're natives of Castrovel. In Pathfinder, it's mentioned that there's archaeological evidence that suggests elven culture started on Sovyrian and migrated to Golarion (essentially, there are things far older on Castrovel than Golarion).

It is STRONGLY implied (all but stated explicitly, to be frank) that Elves are an alien race to Golarion, in the Pathfinder source material.

Also definitive in Pathfinder - the wiki you're linking to is quite explicit about the elves returning to Sovyrian just before Earthfall.
