Just a thought I had while looking at character options. A Djinn pact warlock gets their genie's vessel at level 1, and an artificer can make a bag of holding at level 2 via infusions. Both create an extradimentional space, and putting one in the other creates a portal to the astral plane. This is effectively a 20' diameter banishing spell with no save, available at 3rd level. Or even 2nd I'd you have 2 characters working in a combo.

This of course takes a little work to set up. You need to keep the bag open, get it close to the target (or get the target close to it) and get the ring into the bag without being in the radius of the gate once it opens. The last is the easiest, as a genie's vessel in the form of a ring can be attached to any other projectile or thrown weapon.

Getting the bag into place is not difficult, but may require some creativity. A hoop, wheel, shield, or some other rigid object can be used to hold it open and make it an easier target. An unseen servant or most familiars could carry it, or you could attach it to a cart or wagon or even just use it as an improvised thrown weapon. Casting invisibility on it beforehand should help get it in position but will need to be mitigated to target it accurately with the ring.

So what do you think? Any refinements you would suggest? It's fairly cheesey and OP but works, and as a once per day with required setup it's not an immediate solution to trivial problems.
