Prayer of Healing + Song of Rest

My bard did a song of rest during a short rest and said they would cast a prayer of healing at the same time. I allowed it to happen since it made sense to me for a bard to be able to do it and it made little difference with regards to the casting time of prayer of healing and the danger roll that i made before they began their short rest.

Did anyone else experience something like this and how did you handle it? Doesn't have to be these same exact spells/features.

Song of Rest says that it's used "during a short rest", but it never says that you're performing it continually for the entire short rest. I always pictured it as a couple of minutes at the beginning, sort of like a lullaby. That leaves plenty of time to also cast the spell.
