Welcome to week 7 of us finding out popularity on monsters by direct vote!

You may vote freely for any number of monsters of the selected theme, and at the end of each day for a whole week, we'll see which one was the favoirte 7 days later.
This isn't a competition, just a game, and as a game, everyone is entitled to their opinion of which monster is the best for them, so no arguments please, be good bois. Feel free to say why you love your picks, to help us expand on our viewpoint of that particular creature.
Any vote cast as a reply will be added or counted, so if your monster isn't named yet, vote for it and it will appear and compete~!

This week's theme is:

Demon tag

Official Artwork from Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes.

The end date will be next Wednesday, August 5th.
[/U]Any source in 5e is fine, as there isn't that much to pick from (yet), and for those obscure 3rd parties, just point out where are they located for the sake of reference~

My vote: This time I'll cast my vote on the cool Marilith, I'd go succubus, but they are not demon anymore, so there's that. Marilith are such interesting creatures, and even though they got nerfed between editions (imo), they are still one of the most iconic~

Absolutely gonna throw down a vote for Fraz'urbluu. First ever pc was a warlock to him.
Yeenoghu and Baphomet are close close seconds.

Graatz all the way, I have loved him ever sense readied the Gord the Rogue novels by Gygax when I was a kid.😁

I’m also going to vote for Fraz-Urbl'uu, as I have a Fiend Warlock of him in the campaign I’m running, and though things aren’t certain yet, he may end up being the campaign’s BBEG.

Nalfeshnee. They're horrible in every way: twisted versions of humans themselves. They practice human customs, dining with utensils and dressing in fine clothes, and believe themselves civilized, but their physical form matches the barbarity and darkness in their hearts. The nalfeshnee represents the hypocrisy and egotism at the center of the human psyche, and so they are well suited to be the judges of the Abyss.

They understand, more than any other demon or devil, exactly just how deserving some humans are of the miserable existence the Abyss affords, because the nalfeshnee personifies their worst aspects.

Plus they look cool.

Some of my favorite monsters, and part of the portmanteau for my handle. This week is a difficult choice for me. :smallamused:

But I'll have to go with
Glabrezu

I just wish the 5e art for them had been as awesome as some previous editions.

I’ve always loved undead, and especially liches, so who better to represent the demons than the lord of the undead, king of the liches, the main man ORCUS Himself. He might not have the same bang as someone like demogorgon, but he does have all your friends and he’ll have you too in a little bit, you just can’t help screaming (in happiness I’m sure) as your soul is bound in eternal servitude to him and your body joins his endless hordes.

Last week, I chose four strong infernal archetypes:

lemure, the tormented.
kyton, the tormentor.
imp, the shoulder devil.
erinyes, the dark angel.

My vote today mirrors the previous list:

dretch, endlessly spawned by the Abyss and already hating it all.
glabrezu, same as before but now with strength, cunning and ambition.
quasit, because why shoot the messenger when you can munch on it?
marilith, the surprising touch of elegance on a plane of rot and maws.

And among demon lords, I vote for the prince himself: Demogorgon.

I have a special place in my heart for Draegloth, because I accidently included them in a Yugoloth heavy adventure because I got confused as to naming conventions when throwing it together and had to spend a few minutes figuring out why their resistances were so different.

So that's my vote. Separate from the demon section in a secondary book with a naming convention that's closer to another sort of fiend, but it turns actually they're drow nonsense.

Perfect for chaotic evil.

I may also have to pick Glabrezu because truesight, at-will darkness, and a feature that lets it attack and cast in the same action means a Glabrezu almost always attacks at advantage and receives attacks at disadvantage. It may be CR 9, but it comfortably beats a Hezrou at 8 and a Yochlol at 9- even having a shot vs an Alkilith at 11. It's likely always a credible threat to anything medium that can't bypass darkness.

Orcus. By old lore, the most successful climber of the social ladder ever.

I don't tremble from Tanarii. I deflect the barbs with easy Skill use.

Ever since Meepo in Sunless Citadel I've been a fan of kobolds. Ironically, goblins now have also earned my favor as two different DMs after running Lost Mine Of Phandever have had goblins befriend the party and remain friendly NPCs as the campaign continued. For the longest time I've viewed hobgoblins as honorable foes. I feel remorse when we have to fight them. They can be allies real fast if they could just get over their evil nature.

Gotta go with the humble shadow demon. It is just so classic. A shadow demon is a subtle threat, patiently learning its victims weaknesses then terrorizing and killing them with it.

Quasit. So much fun to role play as my familiar!!! And as a DM I love to use a bunch of them at once.

Separate from the demon section in a secondary book with a naming convention that's closer to another sort of fiend, but it turns actually they're drow nonsense. The draegloth is an interesting variation on the glabrezu, and I imagine that it would make a thematic aide for a yochlol. Eh, I am going to add the draegloth, the yochlol and Lolth herself to my choices.

As a side note, there is another hybrid that ended up separate from VGtM's demon section. The tanarukk is the result of Baphomet meddling with orc gestation.

Ever since Meepo in Sunless Citadel I've been a fan of kobolds. While you are too late for the vote on humanoids, its victor was in fact the kobold.

Week's over (took me a while to reconnect to the internet tbh and I apologize for that), and our next winner was the prince himself, not that prince, the other, cooler one. Orcus got the first place!

From this week thereafter, if there's no statblock for a specific creature, but it qualifies for the contest just for its fluff and previous iterations, I'll place its vote as an Honorable Mention (HM) entry, in case it gathers more, then it could even win, even though it's not really statted in 5e (yet), or maybe I just couldn't find it, I do not own all the books after all n_nU
