specifically: Thunder Gauntlets. Your armored fists each count as a simple melee weapon, and each deals 1d8 thunder damage on a hit. Now I understand on a regular melee attack elemental adept wouldnt cause you to ignore resistance, however if you cast booming blade does the base weapon damage ignore the resistance since the attack is part of the spell

DM discretion. I personally don't have a problem with it since it's using resources to get a very little reward, but some DMs may. I'd check with your DM.

Same song as flame tongue/green flame blade. Personally, I'd hand wave it because I like thematic synergy and it's hardly game breaking, but RAW I think the "normal effects, and" language clearly differentiates the component normal attack (even if made with the relevant energy type) and the spell effect.
