Are there any good ones? What are your thoughts? Should an artificer just stick to their class instead?

My opinion? Yes, stick to it. An artificer is going to eclipse Pun-Pun at level 20, so stick to that path.

That's an exagerration, but he has a point.

Anyway, PrC's that are built for the Artificer:

* Cannith Wand Adept (S:CoT). Makes a good blaster better.
* Alchemist Savant (MoE). Funny little class, but can do some neat stuff with thrown potions.
* Renegade Mastermaker (MoE). Dragon Disciple for constructs. Significantly better than Dragon Disciple, though, but still probably not as good as the last 10 levels of Artificer.

Incidentally, the first two are available only to Marked or Favored in House members of House Cannith. Stuck-up jerks.

Out of all of these, if you're going for power, I recommend sticking with Artificer 20 or Wand Adept. If you're going for AWESOME, Renegade Mastermaker. If you're a Warforged, you're pretty much stuck anyhow.

Errata states that yes, it does have an XP cost.
