I'm currently working on a setting where the world is surrounded by three concentric spheres of stars, all rotating on an orthogonal set of axes. This provides the inhabitants of that setting with a natural coordinate system for navigation based on three sets of parallels (such that, if one imagines a cube containing the setting, all parallels will define circles parallel to two faces of the cube and perpendicular to the other four), rather than one set of parallels and one set of great circles, as we use. I was wondering if anyone knows of any systems for creating maps based on such a system without having to calculate all the curves and intersections myself.
