I am playing a wizard who recently took a dark gift (for better or worse) and i now have knowledge of some Necromancy Spells to scribe into my spell book.
Its a really interesting twist to my Abjuration Wizard but there is a spell that i am unsure about the repercussions upon death;

Death Armor
2nd-level necromancy
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Self
Components: V, S, M (a mix of herbs worth 50 gp)
Duration: 10 minutes
When you cast this spell a black aura erupts from
your body, and all who can sense it know it will be
painful to attack you. Any creature within 5 feet of
you that hits you with a melee attack—or any creature
that hits you with its own natural weapons or
unarmed strike as a melee attack, regardless of distance—
suffers 2d8 damage. Beasts and plants are
terrified of you and will not attack you unless they
are magically compelled to do so.
If you die while your death armor is active, your
body immediately starts to decay and you are treated
as if you have been dead for a whole day.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using
a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage the
spell deals increases by 1d8 per slot level above 2nd.

Does this mean that my body will decay and not be able to be revived without some serious Raise Dead action?
Or
Does it mean i just start and continue to smell like death all the time if i die with this active?

Thanks

Mechanically, I think this means certain low Tier ressurections wont work.
Example : Revivify - As it has a time limit.
Ones that dont "repair the body" so to speak.

Revivify is the only one that won't work at all, but raise dead would have to be cast within 9 days instead of the usual 10

Would Gentle Repose have no effect on this person as they are to far gone?

It would work fine, but wouldn't undo the damage already done. The wouldn't be eligible for revivify as more than a minute has effectively passed as soon as they hit the ground. As for raise dead, gentle repose would let you preserve the body at 1 day having passed.
