What it says on the tin. If there is such a thing, what's a good adventure I can pick up and run for a low- to mid-op party of at least 17th level?

Bastion of Broken Souls is an 18th level adventure: it's published for 3.0, but is pretty easy to convert to 3.5.

City of the Spiderqueen

I was going to suggest the same.
There are three adventures in the campaign, all for the approximate level range requested.

World's Largest Dungeon (and World's Largest City, but I never played WLC) have sections setup for characters of various levels. WLD specifically goes from level 1 to 20 and you can adapt high-level sections to your game. WLC may do this too.

"The essence of evil" is a free WotC module, designed for a 20th level party, and includes a fight with a nasty elder evil. It was thought as the climax of any homebrewed high level campaign, but can be also played as a stand-alone adventure.

Speaking of the free WotC short adventures:

An Icy Heart (3.0) "high level"
Black Rain (3.0) 16th
Haunting Lodge (3.0) 17th
The Thunder Below 17th
Vanrakdoom 17th
Force of Nature 18th
War of Dragons 18th
