Wizard
Book as Arcane Calendar
Spell Attunement to Zodiac Cycle
Roll d12 after long rest to see Ascendancy (how stars aligned, Moon in Behemoth, Rhea in Leviathan etc)

Each Sign has 2 associated perks (Moon and Sun) and a spell. Casting a school spell for the Ascendant sign activates perk but changes sun to Moon or Moon to Sun

casting the Sign associated spell drives Ascendancy to next sign.

Better Signs have higher level preceding spells. So if the Gorgon is awesome, the school before Gorgon insequence should have a higher level spell to push into Gorgon.

Cycle based on monstrosities and Schools of Magic in sequence

Abjuration=Umberhulk
Transmutation=Chimera
Enchantment=Medusa
Etc. have a default or present option for PCs to make their own?

14th Level Feature: Star of My Name
You can change the ascendancy as a bonus action 1/long rest.

Zodiac Tradition
The sky is filled with stars that are gathered together in figures wondrous and terrible. Their dances mark the beginning and end of our lives and as the Fates weave their great tapestry, the broad strokes are witnessed in the interplay of these just and vicious creatures.

It is recognized in the Realms, forgotten and otherwise, that the movement of the celestial bodies that populate the sky can influence the attitudes of mortals that exist beneath them. These tiny shifts can seem insignificant and in truth they are for the individual, but taken as a whole they can create a surging tide that can doom nations as numerous inconsequential changes in behavior are in sum an unstoppable force.

For the Wizard that observes this celestial influence on their magic and themselves, patterns emerge. Patterns that can be gleaned from charts of stars and arcane formulae they discover in development of their spells. They can use these changes to build a swell of destiny behind their magic, transforming it from mortal tool to Fate defying force.

Zodiac Study
Beginning at 2nd level you recognize a Zodiac, a collection of astral figures and the special relationship each has with a particular school of magic. While preparing your spells you can discern which of the Zodiac Signs is currently Ascendant. An Ascendant Sign will affect spells of its associated school as described in its entry.

When you determine the Ascendancy of a Sign it provides a small benefit to spells of its associated school. Casting any of the Key spells for that Sign shifts the Ascendancy to the next Sign in the sequence.

School: Abjuration
Key Spell: Protection from Good or Evil
Known for its fierce territoriality the Gryphon is a Protector. When you cast an Abjuration spell you may add 1d4 to saving throws until the beginning of your next turn.

School: Conjuration
Key Spell: Misty Step
Known for their sudden appearance from thin air the phase spider grants a similar benefit. If you cast a Conjuration spell while hidden, a miss or successful save does not reveal your position.

School: Transmutation
Key Spell: Polymorph
The Mimic’s capacity to change form is known throughout the multiverse. When you cast a Transmutation spell with a duration longer than instant, you can apply its effect one more time as a reaction when its duration expires.
[spoiler=4. Behir. Evocation

[spoiler=8. Displacer Beast Evocation/Illusion

Realizing this is too much complexity for a spellcasting class I’m rolling it over to a Monastic Tradition.

The core concept of Astrologizing after a rest for a buff, then cycling through the signs for a desired buff will stay the same. But since attacks are so much faster to resolve, it will make things a lot faster.

I’m also going to cluster the signs differently for a seasonal distribution. So the Season of Stone will have the Cockatrice, Basilisk, and Gorgon, while the Season of The Bloom might have regenerating or growing things like the Hydra, Etc. Gonna have to start from scratch.

Thanks for taking a look!
