I caught part of this movie, but no subtitles, no sound, no idea if it was 1 minute in or 1 hour in.

First, it's animated. Looks pretty recent. Set in a desert. First scene I saw was this dude made out of sand riding a horse made out of sand, rides over the desert, fights this giant monster made out of sand with a red core, the monster crashes down on the dude+horse.

Then it switches to a dude with darker skin, black hair in corn rows. He's tied to a pole in a shack. The obvious baddies walk in, they talk for what feels like forever, then the baddies take out this guy to be punished. They put him on the ground, tie him up. Some dudes bring out a super heavy rock suspended on 2 poles. They drop the rock on him. The main guy points, sky gets dark. Dudes pick up the rock, punishment is seemingly over. Main dude is helped up, leaves.

Skip 3 months. Then the dude is being trained how to fight, does sword and board, trained by a guy dual wielding.

That's all I saw.

Looks interested, I'd like to see it, my Google-fu failed me.

Thanks!

Was it 3D or 2D?

Was it 3D or 2D?

And did it look more western or more Japanese/Korean?

Any other movies or series it reminded you of style wise?

Anything could help here.

3D, western.

Beyond that... nothing’s particularly reminiscent of it.

Edit: quality-wise, it seemed more like a Netflix original than Disney.

But style-wise, not really.

Found it, it's Bilal (2015).

How did you find it?
Can you share the method? Did you ask anywhere or is there any tool for it?

My previous method was google images. No dice.

What worked was going through all the 3D animated movies on IMDB. Couple pages, had to look closely at the covers, but found it.
