So we've started SKT and I'm playing a wizard - initially I had been planning on proceeding as a bladesinger, but after session 1 I am thinking I'll be changing streams. We have a bard planning on going swords, we have a monk planning on going drunken master, we have a nature cleric thumping around with shillelagh, and we have a fighter doing who-knows-what. Point being, another swordsman is something we don't need. With that being said, I'm left looking for something else and my DM recommened I might want to look at this school from an older UA (https://media.wizards.com/2019/dnd/downloads/UA-PsychicSoulPsionics.pdf). He's aware it's been shelved but we play pretty loose with content and so long as it's a UA or WOTC published product it's typically green-lit. I don't want to go with lore mastery as I feel like that's a little TOO much, but psionics seems like it could be a pretty fun jack of all trades. The boost to psychic and force damage would allow for a decent application of magic missile and shadowblade which are two spells I want to have on hand for sure, and thought form could make for a decent buff for the odd time I feel like wading in there with shadow blade to mix things up.
My stats, race and class are more or less fixed. I've got, in order, 10, 16, 15, 17, 12, 12 after racial mods.
We're not much of an optimizing table with the exception of the cleric player, but I wonder if this subclass is viable as a quasi-gish after level 6.
