I don't know about you but I am constantly coming up with new character concepts that I want to play and going so far as to plan out the entire build even though I know I won't be playing it anytime soon.

I know you guys do it to. So what are all your ideas? Let's hear them.

Great topic!

Right now I started a new homebrew campaign where I’m a playing a Hobgoblin Divination Wizard currently at level 2. I’m planning to follow the guidelines of the Iron Wizard build from LudicSavant.

I love dwarves and I’m super hyped for Wizard class, so I’m thinking to give a shot for a Mark of Warding Dwarf Abjuration Wizard spamming Armor of Agathys.

Waiting for Tasha's to drop before settling on any new ideas, myself.

So, am waiting for Tasha and then I have thought of 2 elves. The reason is to replace the weapon proficiencies for tool proficiencies, am super hype for that.

1. Wood elf, Samurai fighter. Archery, elven accuracy, the whole shabang... What makes it cool is that I'll get caligraphy tools, painter's tools, cartography tools and forgery tools. The image of a elven samurai painting is super classic and cool.

2. High elf, Armorer artificer. with the correct background this character may get over 8 proficiencies on artisan's tools! I imagine this chaarcter as perfect for a combat as war game. Also, I'll play as Doctor Doom xD

A Dragonborn Ancestral Guardian Barbarian, whose ancestral spirits are dragons.

A Wood Elf hunter who specialises in one-shot takedowns with a bow from stealth, technically an Assassin Rogue but with a "wilderness survival" theme rather than a "murderer" or "criminal" theme.

A spell caster (probably a Wizard but possibly a Sorcerer, I'd need to look at the spell lists) who specialises in moving things around - force damage, teleportation, and telekinesis effects - rather than elemental damage. Probably an Eladrin or Shadar-Kai for the extra teleportation.

An ascetic Divine Soul Sorcerer who takes only spells that have no material component and who wanders around naked and carrying literally nothing - this would have to be a race where being naked wouldn't have social penalties.

As a father, I heartily approve of this message.

I'm currently playing with a Wood Elf monk named Randy Dan

As for myself, I've got a Fire Genesi Alchemist Artificer, High Elf Arcane Archer with a Hawk companion (even made a heroforge character for him https://www.heroforge.com/load_config%3D7700177/), A Battlemaster fighter, a Nature Cleric, and a Hexblade Warlock all running around in the back of my head.

I have 2 that I'm toying with. I'd love to get either into play.

Angus Anklesbane
Halfling Monk of the Kneebreaker clan
Think a 3'6" Groundskeeper Willy with a chip on his tiny shoulder.
I plan to take a dip into diviner and the lucky feat so he can have a familiar and totally screw with dice rolls.

Nina Pilfervine
Gnome, Moon Druid
She's a city druid that cares for the strays and abused animals of the city. To survive she's learned to use her shapeshift and tool kits to be a skilled pickpocket and cat burglar.

I want to play them so bad. It's been so long since I've chucked dice.

Once Tasha's drops and I get to play in another campaign (I usually DM) I want to play a High Elf genie warlock who basically made the deal because he got alone well with Djinni and it seemed like a fun way to pass a few hundred years.

Total hedonist layabout, but with a mild moral streak. Like if he sees something bad happening or injustice he'll sigh dramatically, stand up, and blow the offender off a cliff using repelling blast before asking if anyone wants to go find a tavern.

Personality wise I guess he's Klaus from Umbrella Academy now that I'm typing it out. And I'm fine with that.

He also will make genie related puns whenever possible. "You really rub me the wrong way." "It's not healthy to keep your feelings bottled up like that." That sort of thing.

Ron Swanson. Just Ron Swanson.

Cthulhu. Quite specifically, Cthulhu from Cthulhu Saves the World. Haven’t quite figured out how to make this one. GOO is the super obvious pick but... I think I can do better. Want to see the Psionic subclasses from Tasha’s.

A feral Bugbear that only trusts the party Ranger. Can’t talk, can’t read, but can convey simple messages of communication to the Ranger, like the dog Lassie. Thinking Monk here, likely Open Hand, but again, I think I can do better, just not sure how yet.

Hobgoblin Favored Soul. Between the Saving Face and Favored by the Gods abilities, should be pretty easy to maintain those Concentration saves.

Eloquence Bard that MCs Life Cleric. Cleric of Waukeen. Member of the Prophets for Profit. I’ll heal you, but it’ll cost ya’...

Some day I really want to play a deposed MurderGodClown (probably a whispers bard, likely with some warlock on top for the murder part; satire might work, too).

In many of the stories or crpgs with an insane power hungry villain, the villain isn't killed; just banished, they escape, etc. Well - maybe when they get pushed through the nega-portal while being repeatedly punched in the face by a party of heroes the streams get crossed and they get knocked down to first level while sliding between planes of existence.

They've got their memories, but they are weak, and have to climb back up again. Suddenly, they need others to survive.

Constant performance/acrobatics checks for the freaky off-kilter dancing they choose to use instead of normal walking (like a marionette with invisible strings), and a proclivity to speak in rhymes, possibly with different meters to reflect mood. Oh, and the murder part.

A Goblin Warlock that has the Nilbog spirit as a patron. I'm not sure what pact combination would be best suited for that, though.

Goliath Eldritch Knight - Just spec everything into Strength, Athletics and pick up the Enlarge spell. Attempt to Grapple God.

Ixalan Vampire Hexlock - Another Grapple build, but I love the idea of taking the invocation that lets you see in Darkness, and the Darkness spell, and your main pastime being to drain enemies of blood while they can't even see you coming.

Mountain Dwarf Cavalier - I have a Warmahordes miniature of a Dwarf Warlord mounted on the back of a giant War-Badger. It's pretty cool, and I would like to be him.

"Samurai" Bard - Take College of Swords or Valour and specialise in a two-handed sword. Role-play as an amiable Samurai. Put Expertise into Perform: Tea Ceremony. No particular reason, it just sounds amusing.

LudicSavant's Nuclear Wizard (https://forums.giantitp.com/showsinglepost.php?p=23998967&postcount=170) - I haven't played Wizard in AGES, and I like the idea of efficiently blasting holes in everything within sight.

A Monk/Druid Multiclass - The Moid? The Dronk? Whatever you call it, I'd like to spend some time and figure out the optimum balance that let's me play as a Polar Bear that knows kung-fu.

Any kind of Wildfire Druid - I have played Druid a lot and I really enjoy it, so I'd like to do so again and I particularly like this theme.

These are all great ideas and a fantastic read. I suppose it's time I share a few of my own.

Angelic Warrior: Asimar divine soul sorcerer Devotion Paladin multiclass focused on smiting his enemies and doing right by everyone.

Lazy Cheerleader: Bard where he couldnt be bothered. Everything is just too much effort. Yeh Go for it... Bardic Inspiration. Really, my teamates are beating you guys. How bad can you be. Cutting Words. Sprinkle in the occasional concentration spell when he needs to do something other than lay down during battle and beret people.

Everything I do works: Spellcaster, possibly cleric or wizard or maybe both. The idea though is that every spell cast has no chance of failure. Things like buff spells, area spells like fog cloud or walls for control. Basically you never take an action that can fail.

Struggle of light and Darkness: Shadow born sorcerer struglles with his dark heritage and makes a pact with a Celestial to try and get free from it. So some combination of Shadow sorcerer/celestial warlock focusing on spells themed to light and darkness, radiant and necrotic.

I am iron man: Straight up sun soul monk. Theme unarmoured defence as his suit of armor. Sunsoul bolt as repulsion blasts. Unarmed strikes are self explanatory. Just need some way to get flight and we are golden.

I just want to say, when Tasha's comes out you are going to LOVE Armorer Artificer. It is basically Iron Man in DnD the class. They even get Fly as a spell at 9th level and can make themselves Boots of Flying at level 10. And they specifically get a repulsor blast type attack from either the chest or hand coming from a gem in one of their two armor form choices. The other choice is thunder gauntlets, which you could theme as Hulkbuster armor pretty easily.

An incompetent washed-up Bard from an old boy band recruited to be an assassin.

Fire Genasi Wizard who was abducted and mentored by rogue Githyanki pirates and learned their trade sailing the Astral Plane.

An INT-heavy ranger with mainly armchair knowledge looking for a fictional cryptid.

An OCD Conquest Paladin Halfling who desperately wants things to be orderly and efficient for once, dammit!

A radical animal rights activist Druid infamous for pulling off heists on wealthy animal traders.

A male exotic dancer tiefling Bardbarian who inspires via dance and flavors his rage as a performance.

An edgy bishonen Drow Warlock who's stuck with a cheerful sprite familiar from the Archfey patron that adores him like a pet.

A Forest Gnome Artillerist whose turrets are just magical guns strapped to hermit crabs.

An old Swashbuckler/Battlemaster who failed their job as special bodyguard to the Crown and whose Panache now comes in the form of depressing fatalistic comments.

1. Kenku WildMagic Barbarian, hermit (Non-dex build)
2. Yuan-ti Kensai Monk, Clan Artisan (Blind)
3. V.Human Champion 15 / Divination Wizard 5

Whose backstory was rolled out using XGtE while bored at work on a friday
4. Lizardfolk Shadow Sorc
5. Goliath War Wizard
6. Cleric with ranged weapon focus
7. Barb/Monk
8. Reattempt circle of spore druid, not as a centaur this time
9. Druid, Circle of Wildfire
10. Kobold Ranger Variant, Rouge; mastermind

Tiefling, Favored Soul with evil or chaotic affinity to emulate having an infernal bloodline. purely heroic.

hobgoblin oath of treachery paladin who is rebelling against hobgoblin military society, perhaps feels some guilt that another hobgoblin who wanted to be oath of devotion sacrificed themselves to help her escape.

Changeling Trickery Cleric of the Traveler. Be the change you want to see in the world.

Eladrin Oath of Ancients Paladin. all about being that storybook poetic fae knight who is good but has some fair folk thinking in her.

I want to play a bugbear of some kind, but I'm not sure on class yet.

A paladin of death. Elf (not sure what subtype) Conquest Paladin. Basically, she's the Grim Reaper's mortal agent. Hunt down and eradicate those who are trying to skip out on their appointed date of death. Refluffing the fear abilities as forcing people to confront their mortality immediately and viscerally. She's not evil, just terrifyingly absolutist lawful neutral. And, of course, her paladin steed is a pale horse... named Asphodel.

A Tiefling using the Feral stat block (which I guess is obsolete now), going Fighter-Eldritch Knight and taking the 2 level War Wizard dip around 7, going Dueling with a Shield and planning to make liberal use of Shadow Blade. Nothing crazy in the build, just seems fun. In addition to the Feral block, he'll take the Descendent of Levistus variant option. This is to serve the story that Levistus is grooming him as a potential host for possession. Part of that process means the character has a nightmare every night where he duels Levistus in single combat and loses. That's the source of his fighting talent, he's effectively being trained in his dreams. Makes for unpleasant dreams, though. Hoping to play this in Rime of the Frostmaiden, as I understand Levistus has some relevance. I intend to take the Infernal Constitution feat, since fighters actually have some room for spare feats, and it sounds fun to resist fire/cold/poison damage.

A young shepherd who learned the basics of wizardry from a reclusive sage, using a shepherd's crook as his arcane focus staff. Probably would go either Illusionist or Transmuter for this one, but it's just a standard Wizard. I just like the humble origins on a Wizard rather than the typical Fighter or what have you.

A human sailor who was blessed be Deep Sashelas of the Seldarine, despite not being an elf, because of his unique connection to and respect for the sea. This would be an Arcana Cleric, with abilities themed around the ocean, and the character's ultimate goal would be to reframe humanity's perspective of the sea. In Forgotten Realms, the only sea god in the standard pantheon is Umberlee, who is Chaotic Evil and seen as someone that must be appeased; so the sea would be seen as a cruel and alien kingdom by most people. Deep Sashelas could try to grow beyond just the Seldarine and also become a human god, turning the sea into something of wild beauty and mystery that must be respected but offers rewards in return. (This is because I wanted to do the Arcana Cleric support/melee/tank build, but you really need to be Human, and I don't like Mystra because her whole ethos doesn't make sense to me.)

A shadow monk working as a spy/assassin for the government, lawful neutral, very very loosely inspired by Benicio Del Toro in Sicario. Likely best suited to Eberron.

Also for Eberron, a Mark of Shadow Ancients Paladin, dexterity build and dual wielding, an expert in stealth and song, representing the ancient Phiarlan role as a bringer of information and stories between Elven settlements. Would use the Musician background.

A Human Nature Cleric, based around agriculture and harvest rather than untamed wilderness. Very civilization, humanist focused. Could potentially worship Chauntea or Arawai. Evoking themes of being a caretaker of nature; apple orchards instead of deep forests, shepherding instead of hunting, storms as a source of all-important rain rather than as violent and destructive. I think this just feels like a good way to differentiate a Nature Cleric from a Druid.

And a bunch of others. I could be typing all day - in fact I have a Note on my phone for character ideas that come to me. Most of them will never make it past that stage, but I return to it whenever I have the opportunity to join a new game and pick out what sounds good right now.

Kenku lore bard (with homebrewed fluff since according to current lore they have a limit to hoe creative they can be or something). His dream is to compose a giant lexicon of every word ever spoken andd have it read at Kenku communities around the world so the young children would have as large a vocabulary as possible when they go into the world, so they could interact with others and integrate normally into society

I won't go into all my ideas, but ...

In one campaign I'm currently a Tabaxi Celestial Warlock who deals massive damage with Shadow Blade + Booming Blade in important fights. If he dies I'll swap in a Scourge Aasimar Sorcadin (Divine Soul Sorcerer 4 / Paladin 2).

In my other campaign I'm a Warforged Ranger, dumping Dex and using the UA Variant Class Features to be Wisdom-SAD. Eagerly awaiting Tasha's official version of the Ranger Variant Class Features. If he dies, I rolled very boring stats for my backup character, but I'll try to make the most of them with a Scourge Aasimar Whispers(?) Bard for Jack of All Trades.

Beyond that, if Tasha's makes Stars Druid official like everyone expects, I'd love to play an astrologer Wood Elf Stars Druid X / Divination Wizard 2. The Wizard dip is surely suboptimal but so flavorful.

Beyond that, I'd love to try some of the Eclectic But Effective Builds thread ideas. But I don't know when I'll get to play even the astrologer concept, since I can't handle a third ongoing campaign at the same time and I'm slated to become DM when one of my campaigns ends in a few months.

[druid's] the class the fits a witch the best honestly.

Interesting hot take, I like Alchemist Artificer for a witch personally.

A homebrew ghost, either a Paladin, or some sort of multiclass gish. Idea would be that they're a knight who's been on a quest to find their liege's betrothed who vanished without a trace hundreds of years ago. The liege and all his knights are still searching for her, though time has stripped them of flesh and bone their purpose remains undaunted. Valorous and noble, but with something of a tragic theme.

An elven Paladin of Conquest who basically wants to be Sauron. Use fear and strength to take command of goblins, orcs, ogres and so forth and lead them to establish a realm of his own to rule with an iron fist for his long lifespan.

A small time mercenary captain. Probably Battlemaster Fighter. I actually rather like the idea of having to try and juggle keeping a small platoon employed, fed, sheltered and generally cared for.

A cleric who worships the Abyss, not the individual demons lords but the Abyss itself. MFoV has a nice demon summoning based homebrew domain I really like the look of.

An aging former pirate captain, probably swashbuckler rogue, who retired after being pardoned by his noble ex-lover and finding his life rather purposeless without adventure on the high seas. If he gets his joie de vivre back I imagine he'd go back to his ex to give her back his pardon and ask for his hat back.

Major Lee Masterful (Major isnÂ’t a rank, but his first name. HeÂ’s a total douche because heÂ’s so good at so much), half-elf scout rogue X/knowledge cleric 1/lore bard 3 with the charlatan background for three starting tool proficiencies (2 from background + 1 from class):

Eight skill proficiencies off the bat, two of which are expertiseÂ’d
Go scout rogue at 3: 10 proficiencies, 5 expertise
Take prodigy at 4: 11 proficiencies, 6 expertise
Rogue 6: make that 8 expertise
Knowledge cleric 1: 13/10
Bard 1: 14/10
Go college of lore at bard 3: 17/13
Rogue 8: dex to 18 (see starting stats from point buy below)
Rogue 10: crossbow expert
Rogue 12: sharpshooter
Rogue 16: con resilience
(These last three can be in whatever order you choose. Point is, MasterfulÂ’s hidden shame is that heÂ’ll never be quite as masterful as he would like. You can bump dex to 20 but then youÂ’re sacrificing either attack output or survivability).

The only skill Masterful wonÂ’t have is a choice between athletics due to strength dump stat, or medicine due to having cure wounds for fallen comrades (and not a moment before they fall). You could also choose one of the int lore skills, but in the campaigns IÂ’ve either ran or played in, theyÂ’re used frequently for monster identification, which can be a huge boon if players try to not metagame otherwise.

LetÂ’s assume a starting point buy of:
8/15+1/14+1/10/13/12+2

Edgelord - dark elf shadow sorcerer warlock multiclass. Angst to comedic levels.

Dragon weeb - dragonborn, draconic bloodline sorcerer, warlock (fiend for tiamat, celestial for Bahumut) with a pseudodragon familiar. Cast dragon breath every single encounter. (Twin spell onto pseudodragon familiar for extra fun.) Pretend to be a wizard, your "spellbook" is a your sketchbook where you draw dragons.

Kenku shepherd druid, can talk with animals, hard time talking with people.

Centaur thief. Use second story work to cancel climbing penalty. Climb trees/buildings compulsively.

Centaur druid who thieves. Fill your saddlebag with stolen goods. Wildshape into horse. Have gear meld into new form. "The treasury is empty! and to mock us the thief put a horse in here instead!"

Goblin/kobold bard. Talk in raspy voice, sing in perfect operetta.

Barbarian-War wizard, war wizard +2AC/+4save is not a spell and can be used while raging And you aren't going to use leveled spells while raging anyway. Also, "attack the wizard first!" Wizard pulls out greatsword. I love the image.

Halfling beastmaster ranger with the dual wielder feat dual wielding lances. Obsessed with cheese.

In chult setting, moon druid lizardfolk, kobold or dragonborn. Wild shape, conjure and polymorph only dinosaurs. Either spout nonsense as doctor dinosaur, or pull a sauron. "I don't want to cure cancer I want to turn people into dinosaurs!"

Gnome spellcaster that thinks they are a clever inventor but it is really magic. Faerie fire looks like a glitter bomb. Shocking grasp looks like a taser glove. But none of the inventions actually work. They are just casting spells. Like a "boring" wizard

Oof, I have a few ideas:

1) You can only take up to 4 levels in any one class. That means no Extra Attack, no 3rd level spells, nothing. You're stuck with your Tier 1 spells and abilities, and that's it, all the way to level 20. I figure a Paladin/Sorcerer/Bard/Warlock/Fighter would work pretty well for this idea.

2) The Smallest Knight, a Halfling Paladin/Fighter that rides on a Mont and dual wields Lances. Dumb idea but boy if it doesn't sound fun.

3) Kensai Monk that uses a Gun. Basically just a Kensai that uses a magical Pistol...100% do-able in AL, and I feel like it would work really well. Crossbow Expert removes disadvantage for firing in melee, you can find a Rune to make a pistol into a magic weapon that deals 1d6 fire damage, and since Kensei requires you to make unarmed strikes the fact that you can only fire the pistol once really meshes well with it.

4)The Ultimate Archer: This one is something I'm still figuring out. I want to make an archer that stacks the effects of Liftdrinker, Sharpshooter, and Sneak Attack, that way when I shoot someone I can essentially do +20 damage. I have some ideas, such as Fighter 1/Warlock 12/Rogue 7, as that would net me Lifedrinker, Archery Fighting Style, Improved Pact Weapon, ect.. I could also snag Crossbow Expert and Sharpshooter, that way I can shoot three times in a row. Might go Aasimar too, just to add 20 more Necrotic damage.

I always thought it would be interesting to have a player play another characters sentient weapon.

I've done that as a (SoP) Wraith in Pathfinder. It was enjoyable.

For my currently floating around 5e concepts:

Fully blind Warlock who took a Pact of the Chain to see through her familiar's eyes.

Leonin Conquest paladin with a god complex.

Changeling Sorceror completely incapable of attack magic, with a focus on stealth and infiltration.

Grizzled old fighter who uses the Dual-Wielder feat to change out weapons every round, despite only holding a single weapon at a time. He'll carry as many types of weapons as possible - full 1st edition style golfbag armory type.

Overly conspicuous Rogue with Tavern Brawler. Helps the rest of the party sneak by being very distracting, fights with various props when it fails.

Halfling Gloomstalker Ranger who is morose all the time. He thought the Gloomstalker Conclave was for people looking for emotional gloom.

Erudite Vhuman Barbarian, with glasses and a soft voice. Flavor his rage as regular grumpiness and petulance.

Cleric/GOOlock of the Smiling God from Welcome to Nightvale.

Elf Artificier who uses his infusions on other party member's equipment while they sleep, without telling them what they have ahead of time.

Full STR Wizard specializing in Transmutation, who just loves to go in and mix it up with a great honking maul.

Obsessive-Compulsive Wild Magic Sorceror who just wants their spells to always work the same way.

(Much more heavily DM-dependant)Wild Mage who rolls up a new spell list at random each long rest, and then has to try and make do with the luck of the draw.

Eldritch Blast (Sp): The first ability a warlock learns is eldritch blast. A warlock attacks his foes with eldritch power, using baleful magical energy to deal damage and sometimes impart other debilitating effects.
An eldritch blast is a ray with a range of 60 feet. It is a ranged touch attack that affects a single target, allowing no saving throw. An eldritch blast deals 1d6 points of damage at 1st level and increases in power as the warlock rises in level. An eldritch blast is the equivalent of a spell whose level is equal to one-half the warlock’s class level (round down), with a minimum spell level of 1st and a maximum of 9th when a warlock reaches 18th level or higher
An eldritch blast is subject to spell resistance, although the Spell Penetration feat and other effects that improve caster level checks to overcome spell resistance also apply to eldritch blast. An eldritch blast deals half damage to objects. Metamagic feats cannot improve a warlock’s eldritch blast (because it is a spell-like ability, not a spell). However, the feat Ability Focus (eldritch blast) increases the DC for all saving throws (if any) associated with a warlock’s eldritch blast by 2. See page 303 of the Monster Manual.

Detect Magic (Sp): A warlock can use detect magic as the spell at will. His caster level equals his class level (12)
Damage Reduction (Su): Fortifed by the supernatural power fowing in his body, a warlock becomes resistant to physical attacks, gaining damage reduction 3/cold iron.

Deceive Item (Ex): A warlock has the ability to more easily commandeer magic items made for the use of other characters. When making a Use Magic Device check, a warlock can take 10 even if distracted or threatened.

Fiendish Resilience (Su): A warlock knows the trick of fendish resilience. Once per day, as a free action, he can enter a state that lasts for 2 minutes. While in this state, the warlock gains fast healing 1.

Imbue Item (Su): A warlock can use his supernatural power to create magic items, even if he does not know the spells required to make an item (although he must know the appropriate item creation feat). He can substitute a Use Magic Device check (DC 15 + spell level for arcane spells or 25 + spell level for divine spells) in place of a required spell he doesn’t know or can’t cast.
If the check succeeds, the warlock can create the item as if he had cast the required spell. If it fails, he cannot complete the item. He does not expend the XP or gp costs for making the item; his progress is simply arrested. He cannot retry this Use Magic Device check for that spell until he gains a new level.

Dark Hand
Greater Invocation
The warlock may use Telekinesis as the spell. Additionally they may make a free attempt to telekinetically grapple any creature they hit with eldritch blast

The other two members of the group refer to the warlock simply as "Warlock". It is unknown if he really has no name or the others are simply too stupid to remember it. A scholar of all fields of study, Warlock is the brains of the group and its de facto leader. He also is usually the conscience of the group, (except for when he is plotting the murder of a romantic rival or building an unsavory magic item for an unsavory client); he tries to steer the group towards adventuring and/or employment rather than outright stealing, extortion, and fraud.

"Mimic"; Mimic Warshaper 1; Large Aberration (Shapechanger)HD 7d8+1d8+56; HP 92; Init +1; Speed 10ft; AC 15 (-1 size, +1 Dex, +5 natural), touch 10, flat-footed 15; Atk +9 melee (1d8+4, 2 slams); SA adhesive, crush, morphic weapons; SQ Darkvision 60 ft., immunity to acid, mimic shape, morphic immunities; AL CN; SV Fort +11 (+2HD+7con+2class), Ref +5(+2hd+1dex+2feat), Will +3 (+5HD-2wis); Str 19 Dex 12 Con 24 Int 8 Wis 6 Cha 10
Skills and Feats: Climb +6 (2sk+4str), Disguise +10 (2sk+0cha+8rac), Escape Artist +2 (1sk+1dex), Listen +3 (3sk-2wis+2feat), Spot +3 (3sk-2wis+2feat); Alertness, Lightning Reflexes, Weapon Focus (slam)

Special Attacks:
Adhesive (Ex): A mimic exudes a thick slime that acts as a powerful adhesive, holding fast any creatures or items that touch it. An adhesive-covered mimic automatically grapples any creature it hits with its slam attack. Opponents so grappled cannot get free while the mimic is alive without removing the adhesive first.
A weapon that strikes an adhesive-coated mimic is stuck fast unless the wielder succeeds on a DC 16 Reflex save. A successful DC 16 Strength check is needed to pry it off.
Strong alcohol dissolves the adhesive, but the mimic still can grapple normally. A mimic can dissolve its adhesive at will, and the substance breaks down 5 rounds after the creature dies.

Crush (Ex): A mimic deals 1d8+4 points of damage with a successful grapple check.

Morphic Weapons (Su): As a move action, a warshaper can grow natural weapons such as claws or fangs, allowing a natural attack that deals the appropriate amount of damage according to the size of the new form. These morphic weapons need not be natural weapons that the creature already posesses, for example, a warshaper polymorphed into an ettin (Large giant) could grow a claw that deals 1d6 points of damage, or horns for a gore attack that deals 1d8 points of damage.

If the warshaper’s form already has a natural weapon of that type, the weapon deals damage as if it were one category larger. For example, a warshaper who used wild shape to become a dire wolf (Large animal) could grow its jaw and snout, enabling a bite attack that deals 2d6 points of damage (as a for Huge animal), not the normal 1d8. A warshaper can change morphic weapons as often as it likes, even if it is using a shapechanging technique such as the polymorph spell or the wild shape class feature that doesn’t allow subsequent changes after the initial transformation.

Special Qualities:
Mimic Shape (Ex): A mimic can assume the general shape of any object that fills roughly 150 cubic feet (5 feet by 5 feet by 6 feet), such as a massive chest, a stout bed, or a wide door frame. The creature cannot substantially alter its size, though. A mimic’s body is hard and has a rough texture, no matter what appearance it might present. Anyone who examines the mimic can detect the ruse with a successful Spot check opposed by the mimic’s Disguise check. Of course, by this time it is generally far too late.

Morphic Immunities (Ex): A warshaper is adept at distributing her form’s vital organs around her body to keep them safe from harm. Warshapers are immune to stunning and critical hits.

"Mimic" is an unusually dumb mimic prone to taking on non-apropos disguises or accidentally disguising himself as the wrong thing. The Gorn Lord is fond of tricking him into turning into offensive shapes that enrage onlookers and even more fond of tricking him into doing the dirty work for its half-baked schemes. When out adventuring he has the useful quality of being able to get the others into hard to reach places

"Gorn Lord" (3.5e) (An intelligent mug based on Master Shake)

Gorn Lord; CE Intelligent Everfull Mug (Magic Item Compendium pg.160; A mug that can fill itself with cheap booze 3/day; base price 200gp); Int 9, Wis 6, Cha 6; Speaks Common; Sight 120 ft and hearing; 10 ranks in Bluff, 10 ranks in Profession(Cook);

Moderate Conjuration; CL 15th; Craft Wondrous Item, Create Water;11700 gp

Gorn Lord is white stoneware tankard with a carved face and an elaborately wrought golden lid3. The tankard has a reprehensible personality, and left to its own devices it will swindle people, verbally abuse people, make inappropriate advances towards women, and attempt to trick people into injuring themselves. Its only useful trait, other than its ability to generate cheap alcohol, is its inexplicably extensive knowledge of cooking.

Oh goodness I've got way to many to count.

A remake of an all time favourite character of mine: Magic Hands Jimmy. An assimar monk who was originally based on the "grab his **** and twist it" MMA fight video but has since involved into a serious character. He's 5' 2 but is so bow legged that he looks 4'8. He brews 'swamp beer' that's made with so many hallucinogenic materials and questionable swamp water that it kills most people who drink it. How Jimmy is still alive is a mystery. I named him "Magic Hands Jimmy" because of his assimar ability that's like lay on hands, and because of Ki. In game his full name is actually Magic Hands Jimmy. First name Magic, Middle name Hands, Last name Jimmy. Originally I planned to use a homebrew "path of the critical strike" thing that focuses on finding weak points, but me and my DM suck at balancing homebrew so he's probably going to be open hand unless tashas gives something interesting for monk. I'm also considering multiclassing to give him levels in UA alternate features ranger to enforce his hillbilly like knowledge of the forests and swamps and to give him a non concentration casting of Hunters mark, and describe it as finding weak points.

A halfling artificer (alchemist, with the Mark of Hospitality if in Eberron) who is a master chef. The buffs and potions are Willy Wonka-esque magical snacks, and the attack spells are failed culinary experiments that burst into flames on contact with the air or melt into a noxious cloud. Eventually, her cooking is so good that people will come back from the dead to taste it! Her homonculous, of course, takes the form of a gingerbread man or sugar plum fairy.

In FR, there's a passing mention in reference to Paladins that Chauntea (goddess of agriculture, very much not an "adventuring" deity) has a few Paladins, and something about that seems really fun. Just an unassuming peasant hero in makeshift armour with a battered second-hand weapon who seems entirely humble and unassuming until they straight up unload a fistful of radiant damage into the face of someone who just wouldn't see reason.

Mountain Dwarf Barbarian with some Rogue levels. Acts as a spy for his clan. Some key abilities include poison use (rides a giant spider) and 6th level Eagle Totem for sight. The world the DM is creating has a power vacuum and various kingdoms scrambling to increase territory and political influence.
Not totally sure how this will fit with the other character concepts, but we'll see. Starting at level 7.

ALL my ideas? That's a long list. The one's I am currently, or most recently playing...

Tik-Snak, the Small - Kobold Devotion Paladin. Wears scale armor, wields a rapier (or a lance, when mounted). Rides a pony named Indomitable. Takes himself VERY seriously as a valiant knight. Personality like Minsc from Baldur's Gate. The kobold Grovel feature is re-flavored as him posturing, and enemies are distracted by laughing at him, rather than pity.

Zephon - V. Human Artillerist Artificer. Uses a modified version of Clan Crafter from SCAG, for goblins instead of dwarves. In the DM's world, there are City Goblins which more closely resemble Warcraft goblins. One of them is a major NPC artificer in his world. This character is/was one of her apprentices. He grew up in the poor slums, in which most goblins also live. He's basically a human with his "goblin card".

Tessrel - Eladrin Dragon Sorc (Gold). This character was temporary while Zephon was tied up doing some other tasks for several in-game months (which was actually a reward). So I ran this guy for awhile. Backstory was that a Gold Dragon lived nearby to his home. As per the PHB, Gold Dragons start to affect the environment around them. Well, that started to leak into the Feywild, and those energies made him a Dragon Sorc. All his spells were either Illusion/Trickery themed...or FIRE.

CONCEPTS:
Half Elf Fiend Warlock, Sailor Background. He was a Sailor on a merchant ship. His ship crashed on a remote island. Turns out, a devil cult was trying to bring a powerful archdevil to the Prime, the resulting release of energies is what crashed the ship. But there was a cabal of people trying to stop them on the island, too. The crew of Teraptus' ship filled in for the members the cabal had lost, and together they participated in a ritual to bind the fiend. All the participants are now warlocks. And they are stealing this power.

EBERRON CONCEPTS:
Mark of Handling Human Druid, Noble Background - Blatantly cribbed from the Wayfinder's Guide. This heir of Vadalis gets all his powers from his dragonmark. He has no reverence for nature, but uses his powers over it for the profit of his House.

Mark of Shadow Elf Rogue, Entertainer background. Would work with several different subclasses. He's a singer in Sharn, and also a spy for his House.

(Ever since reading Exploring Eberron) Gnoll Monk, Way of the Living Weapon (Weretouched path). Part of the Znir Pact, he keeps his reasons for adventuring to himself. He's been tasked to go out by Sora Katra, who didn't explain her reasoning, nor did she ask him to report back specifically. She's playing some kind of long game, but his clan has been well-compensated.

For the longest time I wanted to run my villain for a level 20 campaign: Kovax Dandleton

A Necromancer 17/Divine Soul 3

He found that he could have his Simulacrum cast wish while he shapechanged into an Adult Red Shadow Dragon. The result was a back up body of a shadow dragon, with all the casting features of a level 20 PC. After the back up gestates he dies, transitioning to his new body making more clone backups every day with wish on a hidden demiplane. The location of which he has purged from his own memory through use of modify memory. Only taking time to create more backups with wish should he need them.

He has a contingency to prevent trapping of his soul or dispelling of the contingency with Otilluke's Resilient Sphere and now besets his old home town, using the invulnerability spell active while harvesting the lives of civilians with his breath weapon in order to grow his army of shadows.

He even keeps some of these shadows constantly on his body moving and clinging to him; staying to the far side of adventurers with a readied move action to avoid AoE if they can.

Should he engage in melee the shadows attack whatever he engages sapping their strength.

Preferring to skirmish at a distance he may close with high priority targets with what appears to be low strength to quickly sap them with shadows and convert them.

Complete nightmare to play against.

Top of my list is a Rock Gnome Thief Rogue with the Sage background. Gets proficiency in Tinker's Tools, Thieves Tools, History, Arcana, Stealth, Sleight of Hand, Perception and Investigation and has expertise in Thieves Tools, Arcana, Perception and Investigation. Starts with a 16 in Intelligence. If allowed he takes the Wonder Maker feat.

He's always the smartest and most observant one in the room, even amongst spellcasters even though he uses no magic at all. Comes from a family/community of spellcasters who view him as a disappointment which gave him a bit of an inferiority complex and a lot of insecurity (which he expresses by coming off as arrogant). He tries to proof to himself and the world that he doesn't need magic. He uses Fast Hands, combined with his devices, for shenanigans. Attacks with a hand crossbow, which he obviously build himself. Sneak attack is flavored at deducing the right moment and the right place to attack an enemy.

Exploring Eberron gave us a playable Gnoll race. So...closer to a jackal than a tabaxi!

Well I have a billion or so PC ideas, none that I will use, obviously, me being a forever dm, maybe as a bbeg.

One one that I've had for ages is my namesake, in fact. The Wizard Lizard. A lizardfolk Alchemist/Diviner who lives in a hut and is a bit of a crazy witch type.

Also another one is a pc who is a pacted with a coven of hags. Selling there eye and arm in exchange for power, having them replaced with monstrous replacements.

Another more recent idea is a Netherese mage, or perhaps just a person from Ilusk, who got trapped in the feywild and is now incredibly time displaced. I've recently gotten into a lot of old Faerun lore and the netherese interest me.

Another idea is a demonologist who summons demons but refuses to work with devils. Demons understand a power structure based on strength and thus can be reasoned with, devils are too tricky and will twist your words.

In the end while making a pc for the hag pact pc, I combined it with the demonolgist idea.

My next character will probably be a Scourge Aasimar Redemption Paladin. I like the idea of consciously trying to redeem evildoers while his nature is screaming that they should BURN.

"I am restraining myself...barely...from burning you to cinders. You are not helping."

I also want to make a bugbear bogeyman. Warlock/spore druid/conquest paladin. Cloak of flies et cetera. Pretty much the typical terrifying bugbear.
