This black collar is pretty much nondescript, until its wearer is charmed. When that happens, the collar shines very brightly - it provides bright illumnation on a 5 feet radius and dim light in a 10 feet radius. It continues to shine until removed or until its wearer is no longer charmed. While it doesn't by itself protect the wearer from being charmed, it does alert any nearby potential allies. Note that nothing prevents the charmer from asking the subject from removing the collar.

I'd like to know which rarity would you place on this item, and if you think it should require attunement or not - it's mainly thought for merchants dealing with high- profile stuff, but a good bunch of murderhobos might certainly find a use for it - specially if it doesn't require attunement.

Any feedback would be welcome!

Probably common and no attunement, it isn't really doing much unelss the party is up against something they know to use charms or there's a particularly paranoid player.

The main problem is that it is hard to see a collar you are wearing and it is much too visible. The creature being charmed may want to know that they are charmed without alerting the person who cast the charm. Wearing a collar that is bright enough to illuminate out to 10' lets everyone else around the creature know that they have been charmed and alerts the creature casting the charm immediately know that they may have been detected. It might be good for a party member in a combat situation but honestly when a creature is charmed in combat their actions usually make it pretty obvious that something is going on.

You might want to consider a ring or bracelet that the wearer can see and which is less obvious. Knowing that you are charmed would not change your feeling towards the creature doing the charming. However, the charmed creature is also not affected intellectually and they know their judgement is impaired so they may just decide to sit things out rather than do something to help their new friend.
