In order to prolong the longevity of the each new ABR thread, I propose that all non-relevant conversation and banter be conducted here, thus leaving the ABR threads full of relevant information (Ie. artworks). It should also make it easier for the archivist to gather up the latest images for the archive.

The main bits to have are the red with yellow trimmed cape, the cross (not across the chest. I dont have a clue where that came from), and the other yellow bits on boots and stuff. Arms can be simplified to sticks if required as can legs. The crown is never used by anyone, bar ask. i think that covers it mainly

cross on arm should be yellow. Hair wise, it should be more jagged. I draw spikey hair by hand (using pencil or similar). Other than that good.

The Cape needs to be shorter, i.e. off the floor. And it needs to come from the neck not the shoulder plates, i.e. thinner at the top.

I'm not sure if this will work for you, but I do all my characters using line thickness 2px.

What I've been doing on Illustrator (at least for Mechanightwing) is making a template out of little bits, a la this. (http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/9508/mechatemplatezx9.jpg) It's simple, and it gets you towards greater skill in the program - that said, if you want to use sprites, then I'd be fine with that - just expect highly fourth-wall breaking rivalries between the different artistic styles. Probably fighting each other purely based on grounds of how they are drawn. :smallbiggrin:

Half of us have gone off in Bis-Anu to Salmonville, to get the next key; Omicron's met an angry moderator; oh yeah, and Threeshades has died and returned to life as some sort of Tripartite demonic force, and is giving Nameless some lip.

Back in Blauport, Squark, Yoshi, Mechafox (and the many, many people in Mechafox's hat), Gordon Freeman, Kishou, and a whole bunch of other people are trying to evacuate the city, and fend Mecha-Nightwing and his army off. Dr Freeman, the Man From Another Place, and Mechafox, have launched a suicidal charge at Nightwing himself.

Just another day in the ABR, basically :smallbiggrin: .

I use those, modify them as necessary, and have a separate file with all the expression components (Frowns, confused eyebrows, positive talking mouthes, negative smiles, etc.). I don't really see the need of having a dozen duplicates of the same person, all with different expressions :smallbiggrin:

Catalyse is a homebrew spell that basically affects an area and adds a limited amount of CL-dependent damage to elemental effects in it, as long as the effect has the same element the spell is keyed to.
I mostly did this one to show that the alliance wasn't just benefit to Ins, and that he isn't just taking what he wants, he actually is holding up his side of the bargain.

Wolfman, what they're trying to gain is to basically revive the Sovices, most notably the block that Ins is wearing on a necklace. However, since they're Constructs, not even Construct (Living Construct), ordinary resurrection magic won't work, so they're resorting to feeding a pre-calculated amount of energy into it (500 Dol, enough to kill about 35 Human Commoners instantly). After that, they're going to work together to rebuild eachother.

Although thanks for the Anti-Citadel idea, I'll have to remember that one :smallamused:

It's more syndicalism, leftist anarchism and newer communism that is more chaotic, but the whole idea to implement a ruler to develop the nation after natures law (after all in Dialectic Materialism it is a law of nature that Communism follows Capitalism) is rather lawful. Besides, Marx and (early) Lenin wouldn't be all that emotional to me. Both wrote essays that are on par with Smith in many parts for the time. It's more people like Trotsky or Stalin who were clearly emotionally appealing the masses than doing it rational.

The nightwing shades can't (I don't know if I'm allowed to put that, since squark authored them)


They can talk, they just don't really have much to say, unless they are high-level. The basic elements of the army are thus -


Generic Shade - they are rubbish, to put not too fine a point on it - about as effective as an original nightwing, too. Sometimes armed with swords and other melee weapons, and can talk, but they are basically flying zombies that can't infect people.

Lieutenant Shade - A step up, these are always armed, and can think reasonably well. Yoshi, an accomplished swordsman, took two panels to defeat one, using a sub-par weapon.

Mage Shade - the ranged weapons, these are basically lieutenants, wielding eldritch blasts. They've got a few other tricks, but not many.

King Shade - perhaps a misnomer, as there are quite a few of these, but they take on abilities from more diverse sources (lit:they have PC levels). Warning - some do have phantom steeds!

Character Shade - pending further information from Forrestfire and Wolfman.

Mecha-Nightwing - badass. Each time any character killed his mortal form, he gained another honorific, and more power - this is the last 1/5th of his full name -

Neo-Captain-Sensei-Epic-Hyper-Ultra-Earth-Fire-Air-Water-Yellow-Kryptonite-Win-Pun-Pun-Multi-Hulking-Monty-Mary-Sue-Shoop-Da-Whoop-Zonday-Unobtanium-clad-King-Emperor-Dictator-Master-Mega-Arch-Furher-Dark-Lord-ficer-Supreme-Almighty-Photoquantum-Mega-commander-Darth-Anonymous-Mecha-Nightwing-kun-san.

Certain abilites of characters are completely out of a shades reach, for instance Randomizer's: "my head must be hit by a ghost-touched weapon/spell to take damage" or Wolfman's: "I can drink your blood and cast light spells.

(note: all shades take extra damage from light spells, whether white or another type).

Those who have killed Nightwing will find their copies are already in use in his army, however only 2 known copies of Randomizer have been made and both are being used by Mecha-nightwing as Bodyguards. (good luck Mechfox:smallsmile:)

Little is known of the specifics of this spell except that it takes 3 shades (1 mage, two grunts) to form a Yeril shade and 5 (again just one mage, and four grunts) to create a Kpenguin shade. -More information pending- :smallbiggrin: :smallwink:

If several shades take the form of a single entity who carries more than one code in their genetic marker (Threesades, Firedrake and lavidor are the only examples which have been shown to consistently switch form) will form that entity’s base/original form (1st shade/human)

While the group of shades capable of making the first form can change to the second it will be clumsy, much weaker and not fully formed. Should a group of shades much larger to combine than a better duplicate of the second form will be formed, the first will remain at the same strength so long as the minimum number of shades is met.

For instance Threesades 2nd form has shown to be more powerful than her first (Power of flight and access to magic) A group of shades wanting to emulate the same change in power between 1st and 2nd shade would have to be 20 times larger than the minimum to create a threesades character shade.

This is however a moot point since the shades have not observed- and nightwing has not been a victim- of her second form, And the Number needed to create threesades first shade is uncertain.

Again some ability's will always be out of a shades reach, Lavidor's "I’m a demigod" and threesades ability to rise from the grave after acquiring a second shade.

Disguises do not count as second forms nor do another being possessing your original body. More Information is not pending, only Nightwing could know more. Perhaps if someone could defeat him then more information could be retrieved. However since this would render Nightwings army fairly obsolete, unless a character wanted to emulate the effect of gathering shadows to gain more power, this theoretical knowledge would be useless.

I feel like a science geek after posting all that, any suggestions are appreciated as well as comments. One last plot point to add in.

-some abllity's will always be beyond a character shades reach, no matter how strong their number and regardless of the minuim level to be able to cast a spell. More specific examples of this will be Boomwolf's ability to abuse metamagic (they can create fire balls and such, but not create another sword or enchant it with a fireball, nor "jedi it") also on the list is Lying's spell that allows him to nuke an area, or rather if his author had not persisted in asking, it would not be on the list at all, since he is currently flying away from the shades at mach 5 and hasn't encountered nightwing prime. no offence or anything-

Curiously and unlike every other kind of shade character shade's can bleed, all other types merely fall apart or "dissolve". This could indicate that the spell alters them on a genetic level, but how then would we explain them appearing fully equipped and armoured.

Regardless unless enough damage is done quickly enough, once a character shade is defeated it will dissipate and return to the original shades that made it, though they will fail all initiative checks for the next 6 rounds are considered flat-footed and lose all memorised spells upon returning to original form.

The spells a character shade can cast are mostly low level ones that the actually character know, though a few spells carry over, It is believed that once cast the spell (true name unknown will be referred to as character spell for the time being) it cannot be cast again, though if there are any mage shades capable of casting it again, they will most certainly be with Nightwing himself.

Pretty much, Soulhammer. You actually get more creative freedom as a non-plot artist because you can basically do whatever the heck you want and are allowed wanton slaughter at a whim.

Interesting.. I'm kinda bored so I looked up some info on salmons.. turns out the average life span of a pink salmon is only 2 years.. so I'm assumeing salmon and leroy are around 5 to 9 months old and the grampa is around 19 months? :smalltongue:

Its called cooperating.
If several writers don't get along well, they simply make sure their char's are separated.

The shield would have been lowered after landing, which is my present art project, so that passengers could disembark. As a result, Threeshades could easily leave.

Wait... who's key is in Salmonville? Each of the five keys are tied to a different member of the original party who killed Sildyu. We already have the one tied to Gwen, the one that's tied to Apenguin I have plans for (I've already hinted at it in a non-canon comic that was supposed to be canon), and Chu's would probably be best in Tajira, since Ins is there. So... that leaves Skald and Kragh.

And yes, I'm still here. I'm just too lazy busy to draw comics.

There's a possible Key signal in Salmonville, Blauport (Presently carried by Salmon), Tajira, Alphantica, and Leroy. Some of them could be fake though, possibly given off by some very powerful magic item or effect.

If we assume the following:
Blauport = Gwen
Alphantica = APenguin
Tajira = Chu Then that leaves us with Skald and Kragh for Salmonville, the question being which one would be most likely to stay long enough to hide their key there. I'm thinking that Kragh would be probable, given his simple-minded nature, he would certainly enjoy the culture. Skald's bagpipes would get him thrown overisland in a few days.

Well, each of the key's color is linked to the favorite color of each member. You can try and guess from the member's appearance.
