Ok, the main thread seems dominated by the question: why is Elan wearing an eyepatch. So, here is a separate thread to discuss "Where is V?"

My theory: When the sending and/or other communication spells failed to locate Haley and company (via the Cloister spell), V got off the ship at one of those ports to go look for them -- possibly even having to sneak off because others didn't want him/her to go?

Of course, it is possible that V just wasn't seen, but is still there. What's your theory?

V just wasn't seen, but is still there.

Well it seems completely obvious to me. There is no reason to leave the ship for him.

And about your spoiler... V doesn't appear as that kind of guy. His spot/search/survival abilities sucks in the first place, even though (s)he's an elf.
So certainly he wouldn't go alone.

The simplest explanation is that V didn't have anything to contribute to this strip, and so didn't show up to save screen space. Durkon, Kazumi, and Daigo all needed to be there for the wedding, Hinjo needed to be there to confer nobility on them, and Elan needed to be there to be dramatic, but there's nothing that Vaarsuvius could have really added.

While V was not a necessary contributor to the strip this time, there is a general habit here of showing the entire party even when most spend the strip just standing around. And there was room to put in V, either by replacing a redshirt, or crowding a few things, or...
That absence seems deliberate and of consequence.

Only Elan knows (s)hes there. (s)hes been casting invisibility every time the spell wears off to avoid the embarresment of durkon and hinjo finding out.

except vaarsuvius was there at the end of the story arc. hmmmm, durkon failed his spot checks?

maybe V was reminded of her/his mate and therefore got sadden by the ceremony.

Thinking about how the future strips are likely to play out... we are seeing Durkon because that is who Roy focused on first. But now Roy is going to want/need to look for the rest of the party.

The fact that we see Elan in the scenes means that Roy won't have to focus on him now.

But by not seeing V, Roy will eventually focus on V to see what is happening with her/him. If V was stll on the ship, that would probably not be a very interesting strip -- so, it makes a lot of sense to the story that, since we didn't see V, that s/he isn't on the ship.

I'd guess he doesn't like weddings since they don't help him achieve ultimate power.

Or he just wasn't on camera.

Look people, the simplest and most obvious explanation is that V volunteered to propose to Kazumi on Daigo's behalf, causing hir to say 'Will you marry him', which, luckily enough, were V's four words of ultimate arcane power, causing hir to become the ultimate god of magic, allowing hir to dual the Snarl in a battle of titanic proportions in which the mage was tragically killed. Duh!
