The growing threat of a Banelich

After a few thousand years how powerful could a banelich REALLY become?
Is their any guesses to what a monstrosity like that could accomplish? Especially if it decides to gain class levels in edition
You see i'm taking the 2e banelich and trying to help it become more of a 3.5 creature.
