remind me: how does altering a class feature work?

Been awhile since I have played. But, if you take an archetype that alters a class feature but does not replace it, you still retain all of the base features it does not change correct?

The answer is normally yes.
But the truth is that they make editing mistakes and so some acfs that are supposed to modify class features remove things it does not says it removes or are inconsistent.
