My 10 year old son wants to play a monkey goblin gunslinger and I was hoping to get help with the build. This is his first game so I was hoping to make it simple and easy for him. Any help would be greatly appreciated

We are starting at lvl 1 and possible going to lvl 20 depends on how long the home brew campaign goes. We are rolling for stats but gets a free 18. 3rd party is allowed and we are starting at max gold

Some more information would be useful. What level starting and what level expected? Point Buy and how many points? Starting Gold? Official PF material or third party?

Without having those, I would say start with a 1h firearm (like a pistol), or the Musket Master (https://aonprd.com/ArchetypeDisplay.aspx?FixedName=Gunslinger%20Muske t%20Master) archetype. This is because of the reloading problem. A 2h firearm takes a full-round action to reload, and a 1h firearm takes a standard action. So you need multiple ways to reduce the reload time to get it up to par with shooting a bow. Musket Master's Fast Musket allows you to treat 2h firearms as 1h firearms for reloading. Alchemical Cartridges (https://aonprd.com/EquipmentWeaponsDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Alchemical%2 0cartridge%20(paper,%20bullet%20or%20pellet))(of which paper is the cheapest) reduces the reload time by one step (Standard -> Move). Rapid Reload (https://aonprd.com/FeatDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Rapid%20Reload) reduces it another step (Move->Free action). Alternatively, take Quick Draw and just have a dozen pistols strapped to your side. Shadowshooting (https://aonprd.com/MagicWeaponsDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Shadowshooting) is also an option, and if you are using a small firearm anyway, the loss in damage isn't that much.

Not as familiar with Monkey Goblin (https://aonprd.com/RacesDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Monkey%20Goblin), but if they also count as goblins (not just goblinoid) then they can take Goblin Gunslinger (https://aonprd.com/FeatDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Goblin%20Gunslinger) which allows them to wield larger firearms than normal. Most of Firearm damage isn't much based on the weapon itself, so don't feel too bad about using a smaller one. Most of the damage is static coming from: Deadly Aim, Gun Training, Enchantment, etc.

Deadly Aim (https://aonprd.com/FeatDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Deadly%20Aim) does work for early firearms even though they target touch AC in the first increment. This is hidden in the early firearm rules (https://aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?Name=Firearm%20Rules&Category=Firearms).
Early Firearms: When firing an early firearm, the attack resolves against the target’s touch AC when the target is within the first range increment of the weapon, but this type of attack is not considered a touch attack for the purposes of feats and abilities such as Deadly Aim. At higher range increments, the attack resolves normally, including taking the normal cumulative –2 penalty for each full range increment. Unlike other projectile weapons, early firearms have a maximum range of five range increments.

Common advice is to not take Gunslinger past level 5 (when you get Dex to Damage), but there are a few things that are interesting. Specifically Bleeding Wound which can do ability score Bleed. But most combats at higher levels are rocket tag anyway, so its not overpowered.

If you were looking to make it more complicated past level 5, look into adding a dip or two into Medium(Champion) for more static damage, Fighter for Weapon Training (with gloves of dueling to boost), etc.

So, a Goblin with a DEX-based class? Take a look at the Roll with it feat. It's funny, very flavorful and very Gunslinger-y.
