After working hard to learn Charm Person and readying himself for the conversation at the Trophy Hunter, Xeshanth makes his way to lunch at the appointed time. When he arrives he finds the taxidermist sitting comfortably with another, well-dressed man. Henry Kellani has black hair, cut close, and a clean-shaven face. His clothing is dark, fashionable, and well-tailored. The two men are eating and speaking comfortably, smiling and laughing at some shared story. They do not appear to see you, yet.

What do you do?

A couple of streets away from the appointed place, Xeshanth makes a brief stop in a discreet alleyway, for a pair of quick castings.

"C'est, bien sûr, toujours l'oeil en éveil
Que ce jour j'irai voir ces pendards
Il faut que mes arrières je surveille
Qui sait quelle noire ruse ils préparent?"

"Il est certainement possible
Qu'on me tende ici quelque piège
Qu'il soit bénin ou horrible
Au moins le détecterai-je."

Heartened by this modest preparation, he walks confidently into the Trophy Hunter. He notices Nemien Roblach and his nobly attired companion. Before he joins them, he looks around, his eyes open for anything untoward.

Casting Keen Senses, then Detect Magic a short time ahead of the meeting. Once in the place, he tries to scan for magic, or for anything else unusual.

Perception [roll0] including the Keen Senses bonus.

Xeshanth sees an abjuration aura surrounding the two men at a distance of about ten feet, but no other magical effects appear to be active. As he walks up and scans the area he sees nothing out of the ordinary - it looks like a busy café with outdoor dining during the lunch rush.

A closer look reveals a couple of men who glance in the direction of Henry Kellani periodically. Perhaps he brought along bodyguards? It isn't an uncommon thing for nobility to travel with retainers. These two men don't spend long looking at Xeshanth, no more than a casual glance as they size him up and determine he isn't threatening their presumed-employer. Both return to eating and talking, paying no more attention to the scholarly wizard.

When Nemian Roblach recognizes Xeshanth he calls out, "Ah, here's one of them now. Please, come sit - will your companions from yesterday be present? Or do you come as representative for the entire group? We had them reserve more seats, but I'm sure they can take the chairs back..." The taxidermist waves over a server and tells the young man to take Xeshanth's drink order before turning and watching Xeshanth.

Henry Kellani watches silently, his expression a neutral smile - the look of a lawyer used to presenting a poker face in front of a discerning jury. The nobleman neither smiles nor rises from his chair, instead watching Xeshanth and listening to his answer...

Xeshanth keeps a calm, neutral face as he replies in an even voice. "Thank you. Good afternoon, gentlemen. Indeed, it will be just me." He sits, and says amiably to the waiter, "I will have a glass of water, please."

He turns to the nobleman, looks at him quietly for a second, as if gathering his thoughts. "I understand you wish to talk about the altercation that happened yesterday."

Nemian Roblach looks to his companion and gestures to the nobleman. Henry Kellani takes a deep breath and stares at Xeshanth, hard. "No, actually. What we want is for you and your companions to leave Mr. Roblach and his business alone. Sasserine lacks a statute that would place a restraining order on all of you, but we want to come to an agreement by which Mr. Roblach can return to his home and guildhall without fear of being accosted by vigilantes. For a small price we can refrain from pressing assault charges, but when that is done we don't want to see you or the others anywhere near Mr. Roblach again," he says, with the confidence of a nobleman used to getting what he wanted. Or perhaps of a lawyer accustomed to the same.

Kellani yawns before leaning back in his chair. "Think of it as a deposit. We can negotiate the amount, but if you pay then no charges will be brought against you and after a set period of time - say, a year, maybe two - Mr. Roblach can deliver a fine, stuffed monster to the dwelling of your choice. Lady Vanderboren might like something to remind her of the many adventures her parents had, or perhaps your young apprentice would like something to inspire his studies.

We're not unreasonable. Do yourself and the others a favor and let's decide on a reasonable price..."
