Hi.

As many of you know, I am not that a happy bunny. :smalleek:

But, I would really like to see what kind of music makes you guys feel better. So, I think it'd be nice if in this thread we could each post one song that makes you feel good. It is not a competition to see who listens to the best music, neither is it a way to flame those whose musical tastes you dislike. Just a way to hear how other people feel nice inside, and to listen along and feel good yourself.

I'll start the ball rolling. Though I don't normally like this artist, I love this song.

Beautiful, Christina Aguilera. (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=fFJTbXgFZ_8)

Superb idea for a thread, and:

The Magic Position, Patrick Wolf (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeR9_7cACUc) (sorry no link yet)

It's just such a shiny, happy song. Plus, he's kinda cute:smallredface:

Sympathies about being a less-than-cheerful rabbit.

This song is one of those that you feel in your chest, one that tries to leap out and always ends up making me smile. It helps if you sing at the top of your lungs.

Gone (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6HH0tRgeD0) - The Bouncing Souls

Edit: How could I forget Gainesville Rock City (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LikqpXX4No)? Less Than Jake is a great cheer-up band.

Get Rhythm (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5579442730825061476&q=get+rhythm&total=1801&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=9) by Johnny Cash is always a good one, but it usually doesn't work (at least for me) to cheer you up, only to keep you happy or make you more so.

One Wild Night (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6736111255437199061&q=one+wild+night+bon+jovi&total=175&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=1) by Bon Jovi works quite well for me as well.

Oh! How could I forget Rockstar (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1646608017778622636&q=rockstar&total=36483&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=5) by Nickleback. Yes, there is no video. The only ones I could find had too many scantily clad ladies in them for me to feel good posting here.

Well, I enjoy listening to slow/un-happy music when I am down. I think it makes me resent being sad and then get happy from that resentment.

Anyway, the YouTube videos don't do it justice, but this:

VnV Nation - Beloved

Pretty much any of the up tempo numbers by The Squirrel Nut Zippers, but if I had to pick my favorite Makes Me Happy song by them I'd go with either Grandad or That Fascinating Thing. You CANNOT be unhappy while listening to those songs....at least I can't.

No links, but:

Photograph - Nickelback,
What We're All About - Sum 41

And there's nothing that cheers me up faster than listening to some crap, up-beat pop/rock songs, but never Beyonce or anyone of that kind.

I just feel the need to quote lines from the songs...

Photograph:
"Look at this photograph,
Every time I do, it makes me laugh.
How did our eyes get so red?
And what the h*** is on Joey's head?"

What We're All About:
"Lucky number seven every dice I roll...":smallconfused:

Anything by Leonard Cohen. Because then I realise I'm not as down as he sounds.

I wouldnt' recommend this for anyone who isn't already a fan though ...

Always does it for me. Especially the part where he starts scatting, you can't not sing along with it and feel better.

I like this version of this song.

I rarely cheer up from just music though.

Music generally puts me in a good mood, but Northwest Sound is the genre I've been listening to a lot lately. (Death Cab, Modest Mouse, Built to Spill)

At Your Funeral by Saves the Day (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwW0q65VIas) always puts me in a good mood. (When I saw them live I didn't even recognize the lead singer because he got chubby :P)

I can't find a youtube for it...

But Harold the Barrel, by Genesis, always makes me giggle and feel happy.

Quite often, it'll make me go hyper, come to think of it...

I used to keep a depression emergency kit for a friend who was... on the edge.

This kit included a Flaming Lips album and three calenders of adorable kittens.

I think he was more moved by the fact that I'd always come over, play the album, and look at kittens with him, crack jokes, and cheer him up then the actual album or the kittens.

First thoughts:
DJ Format's "We Know Something" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhZt4i92aSA). The track is fun, and the video just can't be topped.
Vince Guaraldi's "Cast Your Fate To The Wind" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PddZZ83Be8E).

By the way, this thread has some eclectic stuff in it. I've enjoyed several things I've never heard before, thanks all!
