View Full Version : DM Help Overly Ambitious Rebellion Downtime System

In my home city game my players have decided to topple a facist government from within, and I thought sweet, lets do a cool minigame to speed things up and send NPC teams to task suitable to them

Fluff: homebrew Eberron citystate - in the mountains of the Eldeen Reaches, lots of orcs and shifters and old druidic faith splintered into organized religion, there was a coup, now facists

Goals: make a fun mission based downtime system, a little inspired by kingmaker and most any kingdom minigame from many years of gameing so they can be accomplishing other goals while they roleplay/dungeoncrawl

Rules:

gain 40 victory points (RhoD nod) before 10 Government Notice Points or your rebellion will be crushed before it can begin
- complete missions based on skill/ability checks
- manage and use an abstract resource for man power given the Starwars hype I'll call it rebels
- min and max resources per mission, spending more gains +1 bonus on check, but increases notice government notice chance if over max?
-PCs and ally NPCs can count as min rebels maybe

structure could be eg.

Mission: Save Babies from evil henchmen
DC: 17 athletics or 14 arcana
Minimum rebels:1
Maximum rebels: 5
Danger: stealth 11 or gain 1 notice and lose 1d3 rebels
Reward 4 vp, Grateful townsfolk +2d4 rebels
