In 483 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0483.html), Elan comments how it seems like he'll never see either Belkar or Haley again. However, now he has an eyepatch. My theory is:
This eyepatch stops him from seeing with both eyes, right? So he isn't seeing them the same way as before. So he can still meet with them, he just won't see them. (at least, not in the same way he did before). Alternatively, Haley and Belkar get a permanent invisibility spell on them.
