View Full Version : 3rd Ed Does the wounding magical weapon activity works on constructs too? 3.0

I have a doubt about an empowerment for magic weapons. In the 3.0 dungeon master guide, it mentions that the weapon with wounding deals damage making the creature bleed. But it wouldn't make sense for it as creatures that do not have a constitution score, such as constructs or undead shouldn't be bleeding. I've done a portion of research but nowhere says that such damage cannot be done to such creatures, even if it wouldn't make sense. I checked for possible errata if there would be any changes but not even those have anything that mentions such.

Here's a screenshot of the weapon ability found in the forgotten realms website. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/576786874555695104/793654030285930506/unknown.png
As the page from the pdf of the manual is corrupted and I cannot access it.

(In case I did something wrong with the creation of the thread please notify too for that, I am new into this forum so I do not know how to proceed with that)

No. (https://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/magicWeapons.htm#wounding)

Also, don't use Realmshelp. They use outdated information.

I always liked 3.0s wounding much better. I always felt like the 3.5 version was a bit of a downgrade.

thats the 3.5 version of wounding which deals con damage so of course it cant affect things without a con score. OP wants to know about the 3.0 version, which your link says nothing about.

Fair. I had to dig out my physical copy of the book to check and it's exactly as Realmshelp states. However, the errata for the 3.0 DMG changes it to a +2 bonus instead of a +1. No other change, fix or modification is applied. Just exactly as it is written. Just for fun, I checked the MM errata as well and constructs and undead do not gain any special benefits pertaining to the wounding special ability.
