Well, I'm just done warching the first five episodes (surprised they didn't drop weekly).
Has anybody else here watched it?
If you haven't and are looking for a fun adventure/crime show with some social commentary, you should, I had a blast.

I like the idea of it not being an adaptation but being about a criminal who is, diegetically, inspired by Leblanc's stories. It helps keep the thing fresh and allows the show to go in its own direction while at the same time tapping into the established formula. I do wish we had some more heist-centric episodes.
Omar Sy is, as always, delightful to watch he really brings in the self-confidence, charisma and sheer fun that Arsène Assane is supposed to have. Also the disguises (also wishes there were more of these) allow him to show his range. And the other actors aren't far behind either, especially Dumont's.
The plot mostly kept me guessing where it wanted to, which is always nice.

What do you think?

I haven't watched it yet, but it did make me curious when I saw it on Netflix the other day, so I'll probably watch it sometime soon.

I've got one important question though. Did, at any point, Benedict Cumberbatch appear in a cameo as a British private detective whose name very much is not Sherlock Holmes (but whose name and actions are very similar)?

Nope. No Herlock Sholmès. No Ganimard, Folenfant, Béchoux or Beautrealet for that matter.

Is this supposed to be an adaption of the anime/manga Lupin the Third?

The low ratings of this series discourage me.
I'll wait for more ratings

Both Lupin the third and this show are pulling from the same series of short stories about Arséne Lupin.

Arsène Lupin (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ars%C3%A8ne_Lupin) is a very popular character in France, this show is an adaptation in spirit of the original novels and short stories where Lupin is a fictionnal charcter in universe but the protagonist styles himself after him.

I keep reading this thread title with the same cadence as "Shaka, when the falls fell"

Please tell me I'm not the only one.

I am not familiar with that sentence, sorry. I named the thread like that because it is the full name of the show in French.

I've been meaning to give this a look. I enjoy stories like this, so it seems like it'd be right up my alley!

I find it funny that I know this because Don Rosa would write a master thief character into his Uncle Scrooge stories cribbed of the same source.

I don't do Netflix or crime/mystery so have no actual opinion on it. Just thought it was funny when I saw the title and thought "oh that must be about that guy..."
