How would other DM's out there in the playground feel about allowing Reactive Counterspell to work with a PC using Spellfire, so they wouldn't need to hamstring themselves to use one of the strengths of the ability?

We just made it a free action. In 3.0 the rod had to readied, so the spellfire rules say that. In 3.5 they changed the rod of absorption to a free action. Easiest solution we thought was just change spellfire's absorption to the same method.

I've seen it argued that way, and that they used the rod of absorption as an example of what a readied action was so even in 3.5 a readied action would still be necessary.

But I do like the easy and simple solutions...thanks.
