Deep stalker or gloom stalker with variant Ranger rules?

Looking at using the variant class rules for Ranger (Favored foe, deft explorer, etc).

Gloom stalker and deep stalker are pretty similar, but which matches up best with this version?

^ Agreed with this (though as always and especially for increasingly recent things, check with your DM and don't be surprised at the official version being toned down or turned down -- although it's likely not a concern in this case).

The official published Gloom Stalker is a replacement for the Deep Stalker, which was only designed to work with the Revised Ranger, which is no longer supported. I would recommend using Gloom Stalker.
