I may have posted something similar in the past, but...

How would one reverse engineer a price for Shifter’s Sorrow:

This +1/+1 two-bladed sword has blades of alchemical silver. The weapon deals an extra 2d6 points of damage against any creature with the shapechanger subtype. When a shapechanger or a creature in an alternate form (such as a druid using wild shape) is struck by the weapon, it must make a DC 15 Will save or return to its natural form.

Strong transmutation; CL 15th; Craft Arms and Armor, baleful polymorph; Price 12,780 gp; Cost 6,780 gp + 480 XP; Weight 10 lb.

Now, I know any price I arrive it will not be RAW, but I'm still looking for a figure. I know it's probably an easy calculation, but I'd feel better getting some help.

Say I just want this ability (i.e. +2d6 vs creatures with shapechanger subtype, and a will save on a hit to force them into their natural form) on a non-double weapon, a plain old longsword +1.

All help appreciated.

Cheers - T

Seems very similar to Bane; it swaps a +2 situational enhancement for an even more situational fixed-DC ability. I'd leave it as a +1 bonus

Shifter Sorrow: 12,780 gp

Sword, Two-Bladed - 100 gp
Masterwork Double weapon - 600 gp
Alchemical Silver Double weapon - 180 gp
+1 Enhancement Bonus for each Blade - 4000 gp

Unknown shifter's sorrow bonus damage and save vs reverting form: 7900 gp for both blades, which means it costs 3950 gp for just one

Thank you both. I'm probably leaning towards the second option at the moment.

I'm of two minds about it, bane as a +1 Quality is better, giving not just +2d6 damage, but making the weapon become +3 vs the Bane target, but by default, you cannot select Shapechangers as a Bane target, but it's something you can add to a Bane weapon as well. If you know that the shapechanger you're chasing is a human natively, technically a +1 Human Bane Shifter's sorrow will deal +4d6 bonus damage, because even in Animal form, they're still considered Humanoid (human, shapechanger) (https://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/lycanthrope.htm)

The 480 xp creation cost means the magical portion is 12,000 gp (since the xp cost is 1/25 the magical portion's gp cost). That it goes from 12,780 gp to 6,780 gp when crafted further solidifies that 780 gp of the price is mundane, and the 12k is magical as that's what's cut in half when crafting it.

So 12k on two ends of a double weapon is 6k per weapon, +1 is 2k, so that's 4,000 gp for the 2d6 vs shapechangers and making wild shape and similar check to lose the form.

Thanks for confirming that, I found it odd the numbers weren't adding up, like they forgot the 100 gp Base price of the weapon before all the other modifiers were added.
