Basic gist, the world was destroyed by cyrus and team galactic, arceus sent ash back to the start of his journey with the ability to use aura. Ash and crew are far better than they were originally so things go both easier and harder because often times things escalate to match. Lots of stuff ensues, basically everything, movies included, happen somewhat differently and even the gym battles and league fights work out in new ways to keep everything interesting to read.

Mokepon (https://h0lyhandgrenade.co.uk/mokepon/comic/1), a webcomic centered on a coming-of-age story set in the Pokemon universe. Our protagonist is a young teen presented with an opportunity to leave Pallet Town and make a name for himself!

Except he thinks that's an entire bucket of BS and utterly refuses to do so unless he has a good reason - though his judgement of "good reason" is often manipulated. It's a deconstruction - and partial reconstruction - of at least the early-gen Pokemon worlds.
