ECL questions

ok so i just had some confusions about ecl and some game mechanics, specifically character dependent "things" even more specifically leadership.

so in essence my question is would my cohort and followers for leadership be based of my different class levels added together OR my ecl.

Ok, so there are two things to consider and both of those things ignore any consideration like level adjustment.

You care about your level and leadership score, and leadership score is mostly determined by your level, so you mostly just care about your level.

Your leadership score is equal to your Level +Charisma modifier + misc. modifiers.

Your Level is another way of saying your HD. Level Adjustment does not add to your level. ECL is equal to Level(HD)+LA.

Your cohort's ECL must be the lesser of ether your HD-2 OR the level listed on the leadership score chart.
The number of followers you gather to you is determined entirely based on the leadership score chart.
